Nice article. Though I have to admit I don't ever recall the Pats being on channel 38 or 56; does anybody recall when that was? All I remember is the Pats and the rest of the AFL being on NBC (channel 4 in Boston at that time) while the NFL continued to jam the Giants down our throats on CBS (channel 5).

I remember that I was never able to pick up a clear UHF signal, living in Billerica.
I don't remember what station though.

I was eleven in 1960 and followed the Pats as passionately as only a kid can.

I totally agree that Gino should be in the HOF, but probably won't make it because of the sadsack teams he was on.

When Bounoconti ended up in Miami, I was so pissed, I gave up on them until Chuck Fairbanks came along.

And I've been enjoying the roller coaster ride ever since.

I got derailed by the comment on Red Sox attendance prior to 1967. It wasn't anything like 5,000 per game but 8,000+ to 14,000+ between 1960 and 1966. Maybe someone divided total season attendance by 162 games instead of 81?
