Eldelman Arrested (Update: All charges DROPPED)

Lets not go too harsh on her.

The DA dropped the charges because there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

She may very well be telling the truth. Or he may very well be telling the truth.

All the DA has said is there isn't enought evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he is lying and she is not.

From their website:

The evidence suggests that he approached a woman on the dance floor and took her hand briefly. Review of the videotape indicates that the physical contact between the two was fleeting, prosecutors say, and did not meet the elements of any crime.

More accurately: there's insufficient evidence that Edelman did what he was accused of, and what evidence does exist does not prove he did anything wrong.

What a remarkable post given the video. The charges are dropped, but hey, why not continue to suggest guilt and further tarnish his reputation? Really, so what if the video shows almost nothing. So what if the DA's office said there was no evidence of criminal wrong doing (and we know that a DA's office would never move forward on a merit-less case simply because it is a high profile 'ideal media' type case). The important thing is to keep up that you are right and JE may well be guilty regardless of a lack of substantiation.

Given the content of the video, this matter should NEVER, EVER required police involvement (She or her Boyfriend are at fault for this and deserve, at minimum, scorn for it). Further, those on this board and in the media who had JE all but fired from the Patriots, banned from the NFL, and on his way to a prison sentence....this group's (or most of them) lack of humility is disheartening. Their lack of ability to step away from their rigid, knee jerk, pop culture logic and admit they were wrong is starkly troubling. However, the good news is the undertones of this group is not without comical value on some level.

Agreed. This looks more like a lame attempt at a money grab than anything else. Get a conviction and then file a civil suit. I doubt they would have cared if he got any jail time.

You might be right though initially this seems a -- and likely alcohol fueled -- overreaction by her and/or a jealous boyfriend. What the motivation was after the initial "incident" is hard to explain outside of personal gain.

If what we saw on the video constitutes the criminal legal system being involved, they should just setup kangaroo courtrooms at every night club after 1am. Let's streamline the process! Though in this instance the crime, albeit not criminal, is the actions of the 'string 'em up' crowd.

I went to a pre-season practice 2 years ago and JE and Moss were signing autographs after practice. Both were great, but they sound off an air horn to tell them "time to go". Moss split but JE ignored it as if he never heard it.

I was about 4 feet away from him (crowd of like 6 or 7 thousand). I said over the crush of the crowd "Julian, can you sign this ball for my 4 yr. old?" He was about to until this older women next to me said "My son just came back from Afghanistan, can you sign this?" Of course I deffered and backed away (You can't trample over 60 yr old women and 7-10 yr old boys for an autograph when your 38) but I was impressed he spent an extra 5 minutes or so signing away until the staff finally made him go.

It gave me a great impression of him. Good kid.

What is a bit of a shame, is the 6 weeks it took for the D.A. to drop the case and show why. It's less tarnishing to a rep if things are dismissed quickly. As Pats fans we'll always remember, but nationally, JE will be always be associated with this.

Pervert he should be locked up!!!!!

FWIW, that can be circumvented by pleading "no contest" in the criminal matter. They can still file a civil suit, but they have no guilty plea to help them.

I don't know what people are trying to prove at this point, but the video shows he pulled a douchey move of walking by a girl talking to a guy and grabbing her hand and pulling her toward him. I wouldn't call this criminal, not at all. But to say she shouldn't have been upset by it is way too much.

Ok, so that warrants calling the police and accusing Edelman of sexual assault?

They are both wrong. Maybe Edelman made the first move, but that video doesn't show their interactions for the rest of the night, she could have been all over him and we wouldn't know.

I don't really care, charges have been dropped. She looks like a fool.

To be quite honest, just grabbing a girl and going to dance happens pretty often, as any club goers here can attest.

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, but you usually only do it with a bored looking single girl. You'd be surprised how positive some girls react if you do it right.

I think Edelman just pulled it on the wrong girl. If she had happily twirled around with him we'd all be saying how much game he has.

Way to put words in my mouth.

What is it with people that want everything painted in stark black and white?

I even wrote that this wasn't criminal in the very post you're responding to!

She could of just said no thanks Im with someone, end of story, dont say he grabbed my crotch.

If you have enough alcohol, everyone looks like a bored single girl.

That is true. This is why Parcells has always admonished his players "Nothing good ever happens after midnight at a nightclub". That and the combination of blood-sucking lawyers, preditory media and ignorant drunken morons can spell disaster for public figures, sports or otherwise.

With all due respect, you're wrong. Jesus Tebow said that first, along with every other statement based upon wisdom in 0000 AD when he was born in the manger. And don't you ever forget it.

What astounds me is that when he was arrested, though I thought it was much ado about nothing, I DID think he was guilty of loutish behavior, like grabbing a girls ass on the dance floor.

Now I find out that he's guilty of momentarily trying to lead a girl on the dance floor by the hand? What kind of crap is THAT. What I'd like to see is all the media outlets who left unsaid innuendos out there for people to think the worst issue complete and detailed explanations of how Edelman was unjustly arrested, falsely accused and then fed to the predatory media and left hung out to dry

I'll start by adding my apology for thinking he grabbed someone's ass.

I'm glad that Edleman has been vindicated! It's good to know that all that happened was quite innocent. Pulling someone by the hand for a dance is a LOT different than what was reported ie that he put his hand up the girl's skirt. I guess the lesson for Edelman is he has to be really careful now. As a sports celebrity he will be a target.

Hey Edelman, celebrate this by going off this Sunday against Denver!

Surveillance tape of Edelman

Apparently the surveillance tape of the party edelman was at is now up on youtube...

julian edelman surveillance video - YouTube

Which one is Julian in it? I don't see ANYBODY overly touching up against anyone else.....if that were the "sexual assault in question" if I were Edelman.....I'd be suing the woman!!!!

Re: Surveillance tape of Edelman

This is in the original thread about the arrest!

The contact is minimal!
