Edwards was signed to a one year deal by the 49ers and will be a free agent at the end of the year. Belichick always loves bargain signings with a high upside and Edwards fits that bill. Edwards is still young at 29 years old and is not an old declining player like Ocho Cinco and Joey Galloway. Edwards is just the type of receiver they need. A strong receiver who can stretch the field and take some of the focus off of Welker. Edwards has been plagued by injuries this year with the 49ers but the Patriots could get Edwards on a one year prve it deal and could pay off big time. He is only a year removed from a great year with the jets when he had nearly 1,000 yards receiving. A Braylon Edwards bargain signing has Patriots written all over it.

No. Lack of focus has been blamed for his numerous drops over the years. What does that say about his ability to read defenses while running precise routes?

Can he rush th.... wait, scratch that...

Can he play safety?

The Jets made a mistake in not extending Edwards. If he's on a Patriots friendly contract, there is a need for a vertical receiving threat on the Pats roster.

After Moss and now Ochocinco, they don't need another knucklehead receiver and Edwards is definitely a knucklehead.

Edwards is a clown. Bad news.

if the pats sign any one at WR, it will be Reggie Wayne.

I sure as hell hope we never see Edwards in a Pats uni. His priorities are all wrong and he drops way too many passes. I remember seeing a pre-draft special the year he was drafted. He spent a ton of time lining up endorsements, sure he was going to be a superstar, before he was even drafted. He's a huge diva. Add to that he drops far too many balls.

It's tough enough for Brady to trust a WR. Now imagine a WR who spends more attention on his business dealings, than maintaining and improving his skills as a WR. Especially after he drops a few long balls in practice or a game.

Edwards has never performed in an offense remotely as complex or demanding as this one, and he's still had his struggles.

I'd prefer to think that BB has learned a lesson...

Actually the need is for a versatile receiver who can stretch the field but also run all the intermediate routes with precision and who is instinctive enough to read defenses on the fly. Two would be even better. No one dimensional vertical threats need apply.

If Manning comes back Indy will likely at least tag Wayne if not try to extend him for 3-4 more years. They might tag him for Luck although if they are starting him they may be changing that offense up and Wayne might not be a fit. He's also gonna want his $$$ since this will be his last deal. He and Bill do have a thing though, but if Polian is still around that will likely drive him to retain him.

They have to worry about Jeff Saturday too. If they trade Manning, then my guess is they're tagging either Wayne or Saturday and the other is signing with Manning's new team.

And that's assuming Robert Mathis is gone.

Why would I ever disagree with this?

As unlikely as I think it is, I like the Reggie Wayne idea better...

I will rather ask Brady. It is clear that he is running stuff behind the scenes despite the crap he feeds us from the podium. They should check with him before they bring these guys here.

No. Remember this??

You want the Patriots to sign a guy with less yards and 6 ypc less than Ochocinco??

We have way too many pubs in Boston to bring Edwards here.
