You know what's also hilarious? Watching Kevin Faulk, a shell of him former self, play while two second and third round RBs warm the bench. Ridley had been alright, but Vereen makes Lomo look like Hershal Walker.
Blitz-pickup....
Very important in our offense, and with TFB on the field.
Those RB's taken in the draft were aimed toward the future, and like many other positions on this team, it's hard to make an impact as a rookie when there are some very good players ahead of you who do their jobs properly.
BJGE is very familiar with the offense, has never fumbled in the NFL, and is coming off a 1,000 yd season. He is also more effective than most of our RB's at blitz pickup.
Woodhead is obviously going to be used as a change of pace back, and offered a lot to this team last yr.
Faulk is a proven vet, still a good 3rd down back, and is no doubt our best RB at picking up the blitz and protecting Brady.
Ridley and to a lesser extent, Vereen, have had very limited opportunities this yr. That has been due to throwing the ball a lot with a HOF QB at the helm and a potent passing attack, and having 3 very competent guys ahead of them.
I feel your frustration regarding Vereen, but it's not too easy to make an impact here on this team as a rookie. Even McCourty was somewhat lucky last yr to make such an impact + get so many starting reps, as injuries forced him into that role.
