Connolly replaced by Wendell on some snaps; a look at performance of OL

Didnt Connelly go out some snaps after that bad snap to Brady ? Dont remember which quarter but Wendell where in for some snaps. I think this is a reaction also on the bad run blocking we have been getting since Koppen got hurt ?

Point is, I think I see a worse running game from the o-line and a worse performance lately in passprotection last 2-3games as well. Also, wasnt Solder doing a better job as RT than Vollmer have been doing ? Ok Vollmer has been injured but Solder looked almost rocksolid as RT if you asked me.

Is this what BB is seeing too ?

I don't see how that's possible. Koppen isn't a great run blocker and neither is Connolly. But Wendell is markedly worse than both.

Arent we worse in running the football this year than last year though ? Waters is also new from last year though so might not be just Connellys fault.

I believe he was benched for part of the game but later came in and finished the game doing most of the snaps?

No idea. Was watching the game via internet. I know Dan was benched last year for Wendell (RG spot).

Plays both Guard spots and center as a backup.

I don't think that we should get upset when backups get some game reps. Wendell has started for us at center and guard. If Dante wanted/needed to sit Connelly down for a few plays, I'm fine with that.

The fact that it came after he missed a snap is whats bothering me the most. Thats usually the way BB lets a guy know that its time to shape up. And with what Ive been seeing I think BB isnt so pleased. I know we havent been running the ball as good as we did last year.

We can all say that we want Connelly to shape up. He is not as good as Koppen. However, he has stepped in and played OK.
