Official Giants @ Pats postgame thread

Yeah I do. They allowed the giants to score 14 points in 5 minutes. They get one stop the pats win this game. Whatever positive they did the first 3 quarters is completely nullified by this last two drives. Instead of feeling better about this defense we go back to a defense that is completely and utterly unreliable.

You can probably now add shell shocked to unreliable......

Ive read this a few times and don't quite understand. They were down by 4 and needed a TD to go ahead...What did you expect them to do? If you didn't notice, they scored on 4th down. They moved the ball down the field quickly with passes. Guys were open and Brady hit them...not sure what you wanted them to do.

I thought the play where Woodhead went out of bounds and we had a to use a time out was huge. We definitely needed to bleed some time off that clock and that was the spot to do it.

D played well enough to win for the most part with the exception of the usual blown secondary plays that have plagued this team since our LAST SB, and some really boneheaded penalties by players that are NOT talented enough to be in their positions so they have to commit the penalty to catch up.

Offense....Brady was so so tonight. Great last TD drive to gronk but alot of his throws were off. INT's (even tho tipped ball) killed the O tonight. Offensive line was fair. Gave Brady time to throw and controlled the blitz schemes better than I thought. Bigger problem was once again none of our offensive dynamo's besides Welk could get any seperation and when halleluia they did!....Brady threw a horrible pass by them. Regarding two OL that were not overly great: Mankins fat and lazy after getting his contract, light...they should have let this bum go...
Welker is one of the greatest patriots of all time. Endless motor....and the only true WR we have. Ocho STILL can't get on same page with Brady!!!! Branch looks s-l-o-w out there. Gronk with some big plays BUT SEVERAL key drops. Hern had a good game. Even though it is said ad nauseum, Pats need a deep threat AND/OR more explosive weapons besides Welker.

Special Teams.....SUCKED. Ghost....missed a 27 yarder.....REALLY??? Edelman....WHY the
F(CK is he even out there? He hasn't broken one for any distance in a long time....and the fumble TOTALLY changed the game. I won't go as far as to say it LOST us the game....but it was a major factor.

Coaching: Terrible. BOB...one of his WORST games. (sounds redundant doesn't it?) NO CREATIVITY. I think after this season is over, Kraft needs to sit down with BB and give him ultimatum....Hire a GM, Hire TOP TALENTED OC and DC....or it is time for him to go. IT pains me terribly to make that statement, but guys we have gone NOWHERE since 2004. 2007 was a nice ride in some ways until teams figured out how to stop Brady to Moss. I think that BB has gone away from what he, romeo, and Charlie did that was so successful....and is now totally focused on having a high powered, potent offense....with just enough defense to slow down the opponent and make sure we win the game. Only problem is this year we have Welker and Gronk as our top receivers and BJGE and RB by committee who have a hard time getting it done. We have NO EXPLOSIVE top notch offensive weapons on this team. Two excellent TE, one incredible WR, and an average Running game does not strike the fear into any defenses ...or their coordinators.

So....yes I will say it again, I think BB needs to make some serious changes....get some top shelf coords in here....hire a GM....and get more good "talent" scouts involved with re-stocking the groceries....or he needs to move on (or be moved out). Because once again, since Romeo and Charlie were here....he has gone WAY AWAY from the recipe that got us 3 SB's in 4 years...into a "system" that just doesn't work. I hope Kraft forces his hand a bit after this season is over........

Thank you, the D may have looked better than last week but this was the Giants offense, and on top of that they were missing many of their best players.

Exactly. How many times can something be gift wrapped? Teams figured out how to stop our 2 TE set and so once our offense becomes " Average" and not "Excellent" don't expect this D to help us out. Especially when Brady has turnovers

Really that offense was pretty reliable today and last week wasn't it---but hey we can disagree on this thats ok cause next week I'm sure we will all be back in front of the TV watchin the next game.

Bro your on crack. Read my post above this defense blew it even with the starting RB, WR and C out with injuries.

Sergio Brown in my eyes, right now lost the game. I dont care who thinks otherwise, but thats how I'm dealing with it. :bricks:

LOL. I heard Spike was the one with the defensive dot against Steelers. How and when did he get the time to learn all the calls?

Bravo.............

They would have pulled it out if not for Brady running a horrible 2 min offense at the end and Chung looking clueless going for the phantom interception instead of trying to dislodge the ball. It seemed as if Brady was purposely trying to leave time on the clock.

Driving the field and having to score a touchdown on a 4th down no less is hardly a horrible 2 minute offense. So sorry Brady didn't use all the time on the clock. If we failed to convert, you'd be complaining that there wasn't any time left to force the Giants to a 3 and out. Which one do you want?

BS. That's also part of being a good field general. Go back and look at that last 2mins 15 secs. There was no need to rush at that point as he did. They were already at the 40. Actually, I was very surprised at Brady because I don't think anyone runs a better 2 min drill.

Re: What happened to our offense??!!

Hernandez says hi!

Brady had his worst game of the year. Zero points at the half, and 4 turnover game, and many folks are still blaming the defense.

Brady found a way to get the Patriots the lead with under 2 minutes to go. The defense found a way to give up a TD in less than 90 seconds.

Are you really surprised that some people are pointing to the defense under those circumstances?

When you need a FG, you can bleed the clock, because the chances of a chip shot FG are almost 100%. When you need a TD, however, your first priority is to score the TD, and any time you can take off is a bonus. Scoring TDs can't be taken for granted.

I'm not talking about altering the play calling - I'm talking about rushing when there was no reason to.

The D is gradually getting better and the O is gradually getting worse (especially the last 3 games).

The offense needs to find an identity as they look lost out there. man-to-man coverage has frustrated the team's passing game and there is no deep threat (again) to take some pressure off the top.

The defense is what it is and really needs the offense to carry the team.

needing a TD is a different animal than just needing a FG...Woodhead screwed up the clock killing by going out of bounds on a run if you remember. That was the play to kill a good 40 seconds.

i thought woodhead was injured on that play which would have forced the pats to burn a TO anyway

the reason was to keep the Giants on their heels, slow the pass rush. It worked, they moved the ball the best they had all game.

No it's not. The defense was not being exposed by early like EVERY FREAKING ANALYST THOUGHT HE WOULD!!!

The 4th quarter is when the real pats defense woke up just like it always does.

The pats defense is broken and bill needs to get help.

That new madden game aired on FOX today showcasing pats vs giants looked 100% realistic, couldn't believe my eyes. looked like SB 42 repeat, I almost vomited. what a farse.

Whens the real game start?

I'm really talking about the 2:15 mark. Why not just let the clock run to the 2 min warning when you're already at the 40? They ran 3 plays from 2:15 - 2 min warning. That came back to kill us. Were any of you confident leaving so much time on the clock with this D?
