For what it is worth, I hear his locker is intact. He is banged up right now and could come back if he clears waiver probably.

His agent doesn't agree.

Honestly you guys go crazy about all these players getting cut and the only one who has mildly done anything to where we would potentially still want him on our roster is Jonathan Wilhite.

Darius Butler has started 5 games for Carolina and the fans think he's playing great.

Maybe we will be able to add Bodden to the list of secondary cuts now riding the pine for other teams - Wilhite, Meriwhether, Sanders, Butler.

Per SMY, Dowling and Fletcher missing from practice.

Total speculation on my part, but I'm guessing we see Molden take Bodden's place on Sunday against Pittsburgh and then Dowling (hopefully) takes over next week.

I'm guessing this would also show this move is all about Bodden - whether it be his play, injury, not accepting a reduced role, or whatever.

Remember...there is no 'I' in team but there is one in Leigh

Is Butler even in the league? Ok, he has played for the Panthers this year as a mediocre starter. Meriweather is benched for the Bears who might have a worse safety situation than the Pats. Sanders, after a decent start, isn't playing much for the Falcons. Bodden was the #3 CB for the Pats with Dowling out and #4 with him in.

I was a against cutting Sanders without a legitimate replacement and think the Pats should have kept Bodden, but none of the guys you list that were cut would be starting for the Pats right now except possibly Sanders. Although Ihedibgo looks to be turning into an ok starter.

Are Molden and Adams really better than Butler? I know Adams isn't on the team but clearly the Patriots preferred him to Butler, who has actually started 5 straight games for the Panthers, and Panthers fans and the coaches there think he's excelling for them. They say he's playing much better than Munnerlyn, which I guess isn't saying much, but Butler hasn't been torched once in 5 games.

Yeah, and that team is off to a fantastic start as well Butler has been an integral part of that team's NFC Dominance and ...

........ Oh,Wait,Wrong team I thought we were talking about Green Bay :ugh:

Everyone on a bad team is a bad player, got it.

Wilhite, Sanders and Butler are starters.

Sanders started one game this season. The guy hasn't shown up in the stats in two games.

James Sanders, FS for the Atlanta Falcons at NFL.com

Wilhite has started two games this season. He has been ok. He started the last game because of injuries.

Jonathan Wilhite, DB for the Denver Broncos at NFL.com

Only Butler has been starting regularly this season.

All three are on mediocre to bad defenses though. So them getting playing time may be because of lack of talent more than their improved abilities.

Good. I thought he was mediocre in '09, hurt all year last year and mediocre this year.

His "ability" in 09 was so overstated solely because Mark Sanchez is an awful QB. If Sanchez literally didn't throw 3 passes directly too Bodden, rather than his reciever people would have realize that he really wasn't that good.

I'm starting to wonder if it's not the DBs but Belichicks coverage schemes that suck.

Yeah I immediately change my opinions of cut players too.

You are overrating Butler. He is starting, but he isn't great. He has 18 tackles, 4 pass defenses, 0 INTs.

Besides, who cares what Butler is doing elsewhere? Just because his career has rebounded in Carolina, it doesn't change the fact he struggled in the Pats' defense. Some players just fit into one system over another.

So you think the Pats should have kept him so he could get smoked on the Pats defense just because he doesn't get smoked in a different system that obviously fits his skills more? Butler had two years here. He just wasn't a good fit here. What ever he does for the rest of his career doesn't change that fact.

The Jets cut Woodhead because he couldn't get on the field with him. The Dolphins let Welker go because he just didn't perform in their system. Some players excel in some systems and not others.

This is too easy. How has Molden done in that past for that juggernaut known as the Houston Texans' D-backfield?

salary cap... cut him now then the hits the next 2 yrs are marginal.

I am surprised, but this is both an IR move and a future cap move

Oh that's wonderful. If McCourty or Arrington happen to get hurt, Anquan Moldin is a starting CB lmfao. WTF is BB doing.

Seriously mind-boggling... Moldin is really better for us than Bodden and Butler?

they may be a bad team but he's a starting CB for the 12th ranked pass defense and the pats replaced him with Antwaun Molden who has 0 career starts in he's 4 years in the NFL

As the DB carousel continues.....the question has to be asked.....who evaluates this position group, and who coaches it. FAIL/FAIL. The common theme with our DBs is that their performance regresses the longer they stay on the roster.
