Draft picks are overrated

1.) Trading a draft pick for a player you already know works for the team is a silly way to try proving your point. Would you trade that pick for Adalius Thomas?

2.) Trading a 1st for 2007 Vrabel would be the sort of bad move that gets GMs fired.

While I wouldn’t trade a 1st for a 2007 Vrabel I don’t think the “most GM’s would get fired for that move” is a good barometer to measure the intelligence of a decision. People here laugh at the idea that we could trade Hoyer for an early pick because ‘no GM with half a brain would spend such an early pick on a guy who doesn’t have any starting experience’ yet none of them would think twice about spending an early 1st round pick on a college QB with 0 NFL experience, let alone NFL starting experience.

Every player drafted COULD have gone undrafted if it weren't for the team that took him.

Yup, and if you are the second to last player drafted at your position (like Gostkowski was), chances are if THAT team didn't take you, you almost certainly would've gone undrafted.

Its incredible how much talent we missed out on in 2006 and 2007. 2008 wasn't much for either team. 2009 is a mixed bag with some studs and some busts. 2010 looks to be an incredible draft and 2011 is too soon to tell.
