I start it off with Myron Rolle, S, Titans. This is the Rhodes Scholar dude who skipped what would have been his rookie year to further his studies last season. He's got decent measurables but I'll admit I didn't see him play his first NFL preseason games this year before Tenn cut him. A fairly dynamic college player, Rolle's got Patriot's written all over him. Oh, man, imagine this guy's brain mixed with Meriweather's body! Can you say HOF????

I like Marc "Iceman" Schiechl, I think he's going to be a Dane Fletcher type success, but he's going to need more time to develop because Colorado School of Mines isn't quite the football factory that the University of Montana is.

With all due respect, Rolle is not really that good of a safety--particularly at the pro level.

There's a reason why he was passed on by so many teams, and was barely drafted to begin with.

Myron Rolle has gotten about 95% of his attn from his "story" of being a Rhodes scholar, which is amazing..but he was barely drafted, and was promptly cut one yr later. I'd be all for bringing him in for a due diligance look, if that's what Belichick wanted of course. I just do not personally feel as though he is that talented of a football player, at least not at this accelerated level. I would seriously doubt that he'd make it here, but you never know what can happen.

I agree with you, and think that you are on the right track with needing a guy who has smarts and talent (of course), specifically in the defensive backline.

Kris O'Dowd was released by the Cardinals. As a potential guard I would bring him in and assess his injuries and let him strengthen up for a couple of years. But only as long as there injuries are not too substantial.

Well, BB is a genius. Maybe he'll pick him up and do some unnecessary surgery on them both during the bye week.

I liked Graig Cooper at UMiami -- he just got cut by the Eagles. Would like to see him on the practice squad.

Actually, he was highly rated coming out of FSU -
for instance-"Talented athlete with prototypical size and speed for the safety position. ... There has never been any question about the talent or the physical tools with Myron.
and"Rolle has first round talent"

etc.
The only questions were about his interest in football, not talent...

But that's half the battle. He was ticketed for the NFL out of high school, but his college career didn't add up to that and he fell pretty far in the draft from where he was projected as a freshman.

Zac Diles just cut by the Rams. He had 30 starts for the Texans over the last 3 years, and would bring some good 4-3 OLB experience to the team.

Igor Olshansky to be cut by Dallas. Would've been a great fit in Ty Warren's 3-4 role, but there's no room for him now.

He's been a free agent for over a year now, but Jamarcus Russell is still available and could be another one of those versatile players that BB loves. He has the size to be a nose tackle, athleticism to be a blocking tight end, height to be a great kick blocker, and even has the arm to be the emergency quarterback for the Patriots.

Well there's always Chester Taylor, and of course, the other 2 Gronkowski brothers. All are going to be cut according to Shefter.

He was put on injured reserve by the Jaguars.

There's only one GRONK, but more Gronk is a good thing.

He was cut and immediately re-signed to the Titans Practicwe squad last year. Clearly they saw something in him then. The problem is his age, now.. It works against him.

Centers Tim Barnes, Zane Taylor and Kris O'Dowd from this past years draft class have been released.

Re: Announced Patriots cuts: countdown to 53

Slightly unrelated but Kevin O'Connell has been cut by the Dolphins.
