Thoughts on #85 and the WR's

What is this obsession with the Chad haters and bringing up Twitter? You guys do know a huge chunk of the team is on Twitter, right? Some use it more than Chad does. Why don't you get on Edelman, Bodden, Green-Ellis, etc. for using Twitter?

Because Twitter isn't the real issue; it's a convenient target for them. What most of these people really have a problem with is the whole Ochocinco persona, for some dumb reason.

I am less worried about ocho and more worried about Branch. How much does this guy have left?It doesnt help also that the wrs u have drafted havent exactly produced as wrs.I hope Taylor Price does something out there. It would be nice to have young wideouts contribute.

Words, and stuff...

"NG Pats Fan"??

New Guinea??

Northern Guyana??

Naturally Giddy??

For the good of the thread, I will not bring up the name Randy Moss

You allways were a team player, Brother Licious.

*Editor's Note: Garbanza, you might want to give serious consideration to ceasing your output, Bro.

Have any of you watched this?

Chad Ochocinco of New England Patriots brushes off talk he's struggling - ESPN Boston

He's entirely self-aware of his early struggles and knows what he has to do. I have a feeling Ocho's WR duties are much more complicated than Randy's ever were. For any of you worrying about his persona, listen to him talk, he speaks with complete maturity about his role and his current situation. He's going to be fine. I'll start worrying if he has 0 catches after the first 3 games.

I hope he can still get open, from a football IQ perspective I don't think he is in Moss' league. I remember BB saying that Moss knew so much about defenses and coverages that coaches were asking him questions. Moss may have had fewer routes to run but the ones he did run he was the best player ever to run them.

Mr. Kraft impressed with the personas possed by 85 and Albert

Chad Ochocinco - WR - Patriots

Patriots owner Robert Kraft insists Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth are "a lot different" than they are portrayed by the media.
"[Ochocinco is] very self-contained, he works very hard, [and] I know he wants to do well," said Kraft. "He and Brady seem to have a great rapport. Albert Haynesworth has been a gentleman." Despite speculation to the contrary, neither player is on the chopping block this week.

I don't agree with those who want to cut ties with Ocho.

That said, I really don't get those who say they are more concerned about Branch. Branch has a career full of production when playing in this offense with this QB and is coming off a healthy and productive year. I can't get too concerned because he doesn't have a catch in the preseason.

He really hasnt been targeted, they know what Branch can do, they have to get some of the other guys up to speed and into the game.

I think BB always has taken it easy on Branch in preseason games, hes a smaller reciever and theres no need to have him get beat up unneccesarily.

People comparing Ocho to moss are not thinking straight. Ocho is a great wr, I've watched plenty of his games and he will help out huge for the patriots.

Randy Moss is a once in a life time FREAK of an athlete. He was the best EVER at wr at pure ability to play the game. better than Rice, better than anyone. I know people have a bad taste in their mouth because of the way Moss was shipped out, but overall dude was (and probably still is) more gifted than anyone. Comparing anyone in the NFl to him is not fair to that other person.

Tate - yes

Price - I don't think so

Thoughts are that Tate and Price are useless.

Again. I say it.

Whenever I see or hear a 'get rid of this guy' comment, the first thing that comes to mind is 'okay, what's the alternative'?

So assuming the Pats do get rid of these two that you deem to be useless, I would like to know your thoughts on how the team would be improved by getting rid of them.

Throw more passes to welker, wood and edleman who have class.

Yikes! This me no likey. :nooo:

Chad Johnson dropped a lot of balls in Cincy by Patriots standards. FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Chad Johnson Tate and Edelman were in the Chad Johnson range last season.

Catch %
2010 53%
2009 57%
2008 55%

IN 2010, Welker 69% and Branch was 66%. Hernandez 70% and Gronkowski 71%. I think that Johnson will be a work in progress as the season goes on. Im expecting more drops in the meanwhile.

Those are terrible numbers on any team. Hopfeully a better QB and less offensive desperation helps.

Ochostinko is a bust of the highest order. Complete waste of a pick for the trade...if he and we are lucky he will be on the same page as brady by year end. Do we have a year to waste on this tweeting guy? Hmmm.....survey says NO.

I say run a lot of 3 TE sets where you only have one WR...beat the daylights out of the other team...except we have a small tiny, pipsqueak line, OK check that. I'm not sure what to do.
Lighth at guard makes a lot of sense though. GIven his performance at LT, I don't think he gets to say where he plays.

I would probably build off what we did last year when we led the league in scoring.

We need to take care of the guard situation. Chad will stretch the field and command as much if not more attention than Tate and probably Branch. We have a couple of new, young RBs as well to improve the running game. Brady is probably going to throw more than 4 interceptions, but he will still be one of the best QBs in the league provided he is healthy and protected.

In my opinion the defense needs to go out and pressure the QB more. Which may have been addressed, we will see when the actual games that matter start and we see gameplans instead of evaluation plans.

Right!

Why keep comparing these 2 receivers? Totally different players and situations. Sure Moss overall was the better receiver but Ocho has things Moss could only dream of.

Man, If Moss had a small chunck of Ocho's work ethic and willingness to be a team player, he would've still been in the NFL for the best football team in the league.

Have people forgotten who Carson Palmer was ?

The fact that almost every scribe in Boston beleives Ocho is struggling more than he should be has me giggling. This is assuredly a sign that Chad will have a monster year now. LOL!

The latest excuse: Chad is not allowed to twitter as much and be "himself" therefore it's effecting his game - It's his trying to conform to the "Patriot Way" that has him giving that far-a-way/lost look on his face in every pre-season game thus far. Absolutely hysterical stuff from Gasper this morning.

Screw scribes.

I can't wait for this guy to prove them wrong. You people need to learn how to differentiate between real life football and Madden 2010 on Xbox 360.
