The official Patriots vs Lions's pre-season game thread

Not saying it hasn't been, but if you think some of these comments are justified, based on a preseason game, I'll assume you're good and tight.

Is this the first gameday thread you've read at this site?

Seriously, OL is an issue and it would behoove us to add a vet or two. We have some money to play with, Connolly limped off the field tonight and we let the Lions abuse our first unit. Couple this with how you've seen teams beat us, especially in the playoffs, the last several years and I'd like to know why you don't think the OL is an issue?

there are some tough games ahead this season. Giants, Steelers, Jets...

this could be a preview of those games.

They're calling it really tight against the Pats players but not for the Lions. These refs need to be consistent otherwise I hope we don't see these refs in the regular season.

Welp, you learn from your mistakes. better now than when it counts

I don't particularly care for Connolly or Koppen.

I'm also not going to worry about it until these problems translate into the regular season. If BB thinks it's going to be a problem, then they can go the FA route, as you noted.

These refs are god awful, from the personal foul on Mankins, that killed a drive, to the penalty on Ochocinco which was stupid and killed a drive, to this one on Butler which was ridiculous.

When Indy and the Jets show up, I have no doubt that these refs will be there.

"Darius Butler was right with him"

dont hear that very often

Oooooo, Butler looked good there.

Not taking anything away from Stafford because he has looked poised and the passes have been crisp, however, the Patriot pass defense has made that over the middle 5 yard throw far too easy (far too many wide open opportunities). I assume this is a vanilla preseason design and not a problem.

Butler employing the Revis arm grab tactic there, and it worked

The umpiring is definitely going one way. That doesn't excuse the Patriots for holding, pass interference, taking bad angles, missing blocking assignments and generally playing poorly in the first half.

If I'm Detroit, I walk away from tonight's encounter with the Patriots feeling pretty good about myself. If I'm the Patriots there's plenty of execution issues that need addressing.

It's the pre-season. That's what it's for.

Butler looking pretty good tonight for a backup.

It has shown itself to be a problem in previous years in both the regular season and the playoffs, with pretty much this identical unit.

My blood pressure is up wayyy too high for a preseaon game.
