Regarding Cannon, if they are thinking of him as a tackle then he's not going to get much use with Vollmer and Solder on the field. Aside from having Cannon as RT with Vollmer in as an eligable to potentially act as a TE, he's just depth.

Absolutely true. But drafting a good-looking RT in the 5th round for depth is pretty normal, no?

I'm with everybody else in assuming they'll play Cannon at guard, but at this point it's nothing more than an assumption. (Frankly, I'm still surprised that Brace is a DE!)

Interestingly enough, Patriots.com now has him listed as "T," and NFL.com's draft pages simply say "OL."

Apparently the Bills are going to use Michael Jasper, the largest Guard ever, as a DT, which kinda makes sense, DT's are much more valuable and he doesnt need to slim down as much.

Well that's just not accurate. Go look at just about every draft site, Brewster is a top 25 pick and that's where he'll be drafted.

First of all, the ratings on NFLDraftscout.com are based on now and doesn't include any potential Juniors who may enter the draft, like Konz.

There is still an entire Senior season for Brewster and the other prospects to go through.

It should be noted that NFLDraftScout.com also has Brewster rated as the 44th best prospect in the 2012 draft as of right now..

Seriously, though, the Pats had their chances to take him; I'm guessing they could have taken him instead of either Carter or Williams had they really wanted him.

Those will turn out to be mistakes, even BB is not perfect (Maroney) but with more picks his flaws can be mitigated. I salivate at the idea of BB going back in time to draft Jason McCourty and Joe Webb.

Why's that? You take value where you can find it, if there's plenty of vet D-linemen available you can plug them in and have them produce quicker and better than most rookies will, so why not? I'd certainly like to beef up the D-line and get a stud OLB but I also think Center is one of the biggest needs going into 2012.

Moss (30) = Stud coming off bad team situation, attitude questions
Elite production for a couple of years before self-destructing.
Haynesworth (30)

Rodney (31) = Vet supposedly on downside, cap casualty, motivated for ring
An amazing 2 year run, including two titles, before starting the real decline
Carter (32)

T.Washington (35) = Tough, smart aging vet, brings experience and stability
Placeholder until an elite replacement could be acquired
Ellis (34)

B.Hamilton (29) = Potential but declining production, looking for 2nd chance
Shot in the dark that helped pave the way for the title years
Anderson (28)

Not all situations work out and I could cite negative examples as well. Each of the cases above were critical in winning titles but each could have (and did) receive the same criticism you are levying now.

The fact that all these acquisition are on the DL is just a case of value meeting opportunity. Belichick knew that a boatload of DL candidates would be available. Given the multiple fronts he wants to use, the lack of an offseason and the presence of several tough pass-first teams on the schedule (Colts, Steelers, Bolts, Eagles) this was not the year to go young on the DL.
