Love the first three, ambivalent on Jernigan (more smurfs, yay! ), like the last three.

Exactly. No more smurfs....please (and this guy is a very slow smurf). That is the poison pill on that Draft for me, but then again IMO.

I don't know how realistic this draft is as I don't have any special friends, but I like it. Don't know if I love it, but I do like it.

He's been kicked around as a top pick since before his season ended, I don't know what people see watching his games to rate him a first round value, but let'er buck (if it will push a Patriots' value down to #17)!

I watch tape of Newton and see a guy that throws a pretty long ball and runs around a lot, but can;t read defenses and can't make proper line calls.

Whoever drafts Newton will have the next Kyle Boller on their hands.

The best thing Carolina can do is fleece Elway of the #2 pick and one of Denver's two second rounders so Elway can draft that lemon Newton.

Maybe with some strong additions to their lines, Carolina will have better "Luck" in the 2012 draft.

Very much agree with this. Carolina would be getting a Kyle Boller who can run, has a hugely inflated ego, and the potential to become a PR nightmare; but Kyle Boller nevertheless.

I haven't seen anything suggesting that Denver is all that interested in Newton though.

What I think Carolina should do though is let it be known that they are now developing some interest in Dareus, and then actually follow through with that and take him if no one still wants to trade up. They may actually be able to squeeze out a couple of picks from someone.

The nightmare scenario for Carolina would be to pick Newton and finish with the #2 pick in the 2012 NFL draft when Luck comes out. There they would sit badly needing Luck who is just out of reach, and be sitting on recent #1 and #2 QB picks who are making big money and who Carolina would be hoping to dump for pennies on the dollar.

Dareus would be a better long term pick and they would still have a shot at Luck next year while seeing if Claussen can develop.

I will try to find the links, but all the inside buzz that I read says Elway has the hots for Newton and is not convinced Tebow or Quinn can be the man at QB.

Dareus would be a beast in a Ron Rivera defense.

I have a strong suspicion Harbaugh is willing to tank this year to get him.

17. Cameron Jordan DE Cal
Patriots need a DE that can set the edge and rush the passer. The Patriots take the best DE available on the board.

28. Mike Pouncey OC Florida
BB loves taking Gators. If the Patriots didnt take him now, the steelers would pick him up. He is listed as a OG, but would play OC in the Patriots offensive system.

33. Mark Ingram RB Alabama
I know I know, why are we taking a RB so early in the draft? Well Ingram is first round talent and we get him in the 2nd round then that is value.

60. Brooks Reed OLB Arizona
Reed amazingly fell this low and the Patriots decide to snatch him up. He is a Clay Matthews type OLB.

74. Clint Boling OG Georgia
Possibly Mankins replacement if Mankins doesnt resign.

92. James Brewer OT Indiana
Patriots need a replacement at either LT or RT. If Light moves to another team then I see Vollmer going to LT and Brewer going to RT.

125. Terrence Toliver WR LSU
Patriots need a tall WR than can stretch the field. They take a chance on Toliver.

I went by team needs. I used CBS Sports prospect rankings and NFL.com team needs. This draft we grabbed everything we needed: DE, OC, RB, OLB, OG, OT, WR.

Prefer:
17 Cameron Jordan, OLB, California
28 Derek Sherrod, T, Mississippi State
33 Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State
60 Clint Boling, G, Georgia
74 Ricky Stanzi, QB, Iowa
92 Mark Herzlich, LB, Boston College
125 Thomas Keiser, OLB, Stanford
159 Steven Ridley, RB, LSU
193 Denarius Moore, WR, Tennessee OR Darius Hanks, WR, Alabama

Since when did running a 4.46 become SLOW for a WR? If you are going to knock Jerrnigan, knock him for his football intelligence and issues learning playbooks.. Don't knock him for speed.
