This would be AWSOME!!!!

10. New England Patriots - (*Trade from Washington) OLB Robert Quinn (North Carolina)...The Pats send the Redskins their second round pick No.60, to make the move up in the round to take a player that not only fills a huge need, but also reminds Bill Belichick of a linebacker that came out of the same school, and one that he coached as the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants back in the day.

28. New England Patriots - DE Cameron Heyward (Ohio State)...The Patriots moved up in the round to fill one of their needs at OLB, and now fill their other need with the selection of Heyward.

And they still have pick #33 and all these guys till on the board:
HB Mark Ingram, OT Gabe Carimi, DT Marvin Austin, OLB Justin Houston

I would be thrilled with that. The Pats 17 & 60 pick equal 1250 points and the #10 pick equal 1300. So I would think that the Pats may have to add another later pick to sweeten the deal. Maybe #156. Then the big question becomes what to do with the #33 pick. Carmimi would be a great pick. Imagine getting Quinn, Heyward and Carimi with our first three picks. I wouldnt even care what happend the rest of the way. But, with Ingram and Locker still available, maybe we can find a team looking to move up and maybe overpay for the pick.

If Bowers knee doesn't check out medically this would be my backup plan. I do have some question marks over Quinn but I would probably take a chance on his talent. He would need some time to develop, especially against the run and in coverage, but I think he has the physical skill to play in the system. He's currently my no.2 OLB but he could be no. 1 in a few days.

I love the Heyward pick and I think he is by far the best fit at DE in this draft (with Wilkerson). The end of round 1 is decent value for him, even though he also has some questionmarks. I would have liked him to get into the early 2nd, but with Baltimore and GB looking at DE's I would still be happy with him at 28. I know Box's lying eyes don't like Heyward, but at this stage I would pull the trigger on him.

And with Ingram and Carimi still on the board at 33, I would really have to take a long look at that pick. I would probably end up trading down because we traded away 60, but there is still some good value there. Overall I really like this first round projection for the Pats.

If someonle Like Quinn slips to 9/10 i can see us going for it. With only 6 or so roster slots free and with little to no chance that we will be able to trade for either players or future picks we may as well swing for the fences...

That being said, i would not mind a trade for a 3rd rounder going for a projected high 2nd rounder again. That would be worth the rist as i would be staggered if there were no draft in 2012 or 2013...

I trust Box's lying eyes, crossed, squinted, or glazed.

A first round of inconsistency, my kind of mock. :ugh:

I would love that...Quinn could be deserving of superlatives, especially with some more coaching. He was a champion HS wrestler, and HS wrestling is not a sport for those without dedication or discipline.

Quinn
Heyward
Carimi
Watkins
Gilchrest

Johnny White

Denarious Moore

I think that would do it.

Here's what would happen at Raymond James Stadium (flying down from boston to tampa to watch the draft with my brother). Its a blast, they roll out a nice draft party and I love buc fans screaming at me calling me cheater.. like I was holding the camera

1. I'd crap my pants
2. Hug my brother
3. keep my fingers corssed - heyward was there with our next pick
4. pray
5. if God answers my pray, we move back to 40, pick up a 2nd rounder for next year
6. @ 40 we draft Ingram/Carimi
7. hours after the draft, the CBA is agreed upon
8. next day Mankins is signed to a long term deal

That draft would be the Super bowl on a platter.

Even though Quinn is #1 on my OLB board, I still do not know if I would trade up for him.

You don't know if you would trade up for the best OLB on your board? Certainly you are not 100% sold on the player if you are not willing to give up 17 and 60.

Unless your more secure in the fact that you can land a nice DE like Jordan/Watt and then find your conversion LB with a A Smith or Brooks type of player? Maybe you also like Ayers or Houston?

Personally I'm gambling on Quinn myself and would gladly risk 17 and 60. I understand the risks with Quinn and am willing to let someone else take the blame if he doesn't work out.

I actually think we will trade into the top 10 if a guy we like slips. Dallas at 9 and Washington at 10 are obvious trade partners i think.

There are only something like 6 roster slots available for 2011 i think? Gotta bet on one or two of them being filled by UDFA's and FA's - so we may as well get 4-6 players we love, and flip the rest of the picks into 2012 and beyond...

We trade up for Quinn and Bill can draft anyone that he wants without a complaint. He'll have a massive impact on the team.

I'm in the camp of trading up this year to grab impact players that BB likes...Trade out into next year with another of the top 6 picks.....

All of the picks won't make the team..not enough slots open...and getting a veteran or two after the new CBA is signed is a good idea....

DE/OLB/OL are the top 3.....maybe a RB as Taylor/Morris/Faulk are all big ???? for next season.....trade a couple out into next year...and be frivoulous and get a QB later in the draft....maybe there's another Brady waiting to be found...

??? We hear this nonsense every year. First, there is likely to be temporarily larger roster because of the lockout or even permanent, part of the CBA.

Let's look at the offense. We could add 3 OL's, 3 RB's, a WR or TE and a 3rd QB. That's 9. On defense, there is room for 3 in the front seven plus a defensive back. That's a total of 13, fairly normal.

So you think we will trade down/stick?

there are strong reasons for doing pretty much anything!

I could see us doing a move up, but I could also see us doing a move down. BB always loves to be stocked for a draft, and I see him investing 75% of his current chips into this draft and to keep rolling over 25% of his assets to appreciate for next year's draft. We can still come out of this year's draft with a bigger haul than the average team, but I just don't see BB not continuing to set himself up for future years. Because of that, I'm not sure that BB uses too many assets to move up, unless he's really in love with a player and considers it good value to move up (i.e. Warren years ago)

Let me guess: Portfolio Manager??
