Didn't see a thread on this, sorry if I missed it. Kraft is backing bring the super bowl to New England I though he may of been thinking this when he helped get the super bowl to new york . What do you guys think? Is it possible?

With the super bowl coming up in indy next year and then in new orleans it's very possible a team could be getting home field at the super bowl for the 1st time. I think everyone outta have a chance at hosting a super bowl.

Question. How badly will Bob have to suck up to Goodell to get a SB in Gillette? Maybe that's why Kraft lets this travesty of a commissioner rant on and on about Spygate while Kraft replies "May I have another?"

I'd settle for bringing New England to the Super Bowl.

It's not my stadium, but I wouldn't want to let the NFL befoul it until Goodell fixes his blunder that was the handling of Spygate and make the punishment fit the crime.

He also needs to make sure everyone understands why he is fixing it and restore the blight that he has put on, and allowed to fester on, the Pats organization.

Lmao. I won't be shocked if they make indianapolis the future home of all super bowls .

It's bad enough the NCAA hosts the Final Four there once every five years.

Yeah a super Bowl in Foxboro in February. No thanks.

I don't know, after the disaster that is Dallas this week. Imagine if the game was here with all the snow? I know we are better equipped (and New England-minded to boot) to deal with it overall, but all flights into and out of Boston were cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, and more snow is expected tomorrow, the day before the game. Isn't the reason they put the game in a (relatively) warm place to prevent weather disasters such as this?

I would love it if we hosted a game, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if it's practical. The Pats would have to come up with either buses or a better train line to get everyone to the game, because everything other than the game itself would have to take place in Boston.

Dallas has had flights cancelled because of the influx of Global Warming. A 30% chance of rain or snow on Sunday.

Algore we beseech thee, deliver us from this glaciation and render unto us who are not worthy thy global warming.

I think that's absolutely correct. If NY is a success, the NFL could easily go to another cold weather stadium within another 4-5 years. NE would have to be considered a leading candidate.

Eh, it seems like we hear that every year and yet it never happens.

Would you really want another AFC team going for a SB win on your field? What if Manning made it back that year or the Squeelers escorted to another win? No thanks.

Just when I'd begun to approach a state of equilibrium after the horrific events of early January, you Michael, have to raise this nightmare.

Kraft must die!

I can't think of anything better than Kraft hoisting the Lombardi trophy at the oilcan next year. That would be soooooo fitting.....:rocker:

I imagine that will lead to NE NOT getting a Super Bowl. Driving from NY to East Rutherford is relativley hassle free...getting from Boston to Foxboro seems like a pain. I suppose they could have the festivities in Providence?

Gillette is one of a handful of NFL stadiums which I would say has almost zero chance of hosting a Super Bowl. Aside from the weather aspect, the infrastructure and logistics make it unreasonable to hold the game in Foxboro.

The lack of hotel rooms near the stadium really hurts the chance of a game being held there; that is a major consideration when any organization such as the NFL considers bids on hosting an event like the Super Bowl.

Then there is the very well known traffic issue getting in and out of the stadium - which could conceivably cause a large number of people who paid a lot of money for tickets to miss a good portion of the game.

If one of the warm-weather traditional cities (Miami, New Orleans, Tampa) does not get the Super Bowl, it is usually given to a city/region that just kicked in some tax dollars on a new stadium. So the 'other cold weather stadiums are getting the SB' line doesn't really apply to bringing the game to Foxboro.

I just don't see it happening.

It used to be.

Gillette is too damn small to host a SB. And Foxboro is too damn far from Boston or Providence to make it realistic before you even consider Route 1 access. NY could be a potential mess, but there's lots of hotel rooms and other indoor activities (plus plenty of cabs and public transit options to get around) to occupy folks if a blizzard hits. It's still foolish to move these events to winter venues but it's all about funding new stadiums and TV revenue, attendance is anscillary for all but the venue owner. What is happening in Dallas is a freak event, they only get these kind of ice storms once in a great while which is why they are impotent to deal with them.

It should really just rotate between Miami and NO and maybe the new Farmers Stadium in LA whenever that gets built. Better yet renovate the stadium in Hawaii - truly neutral ground - and have it and the pro bowl there every year. Only thing that would ever impact it there is a tsunami...

And what Michael said, no way I'd want to host a SB... The pressure to also play in it would be stifeling and if they didn't it would be nauseating.

The VIP's who attend a SB in Foxboro will have the luxury of playing golf during their tropical getaway in the posh Foxboro/Wrentham metro area : The Driving Range on Route 1 just north of the Stadiium will open just for that week and offer $2.00 Medium Buckets of frozen golf balls you can hit against a 30 mile wind onto a sun-blinded snow field.

This would bring HUGE amounts of money to the New England economy at a time when we need it most (well that would be now actually but we'll take it whenever)

From an event management standpoint dealing with New England winters is a nightmare (though keep in mind this season is a bit unusual - I remember some winters when it hardly snowed at all)

But from an economic development standpoint, every market should have a chance to host it.
