Pierre Woods wanting back in the NFL

Eh, I don't get the Woods hate. He was a serviceable player. That's all there is to say. I wish him the best of luck in whatever direction he goes in life.

I think people resent him for that inexcusable non-fumble recovery in SB 42.

Must be killing him sitting at his home in Cleveland and his former team coming to town where he is waiting for someone to call.

Its sad but the guy was simply a lousy player - A one trick pony on STs was all he was worth

Nothing sad about it, he was a marginal player who played for four years and made about $3 million before his 28th birthday. I'll save my sympathies for someone else. Besides he'll likely get another chance to earn a job.

I thought he and/or Alexander might end up in Denver, KC or Cleveland after being cut. No fun to be looking for a job and not finding one whether you're an NFL player, a dishwasher, or something in between. Doesn't help guys like Woods that they are not eligible to go on an team's practice squad, or, to a lesser extent that their minimum salary is twice the minimum of a rookie.

Either Woods is a better special team option or he is not. Belichick think that he is not.

As far as being a one trick pony, there are many such players. BTW, do you really want Tracey White playing linebacker? The reality is that White was judged to be a better option on special teams than Woods, and continues to be a better option, or he wouldn't be on the 53.

I agree w/ both sides. Good guy. Tough on him that he's out of work with no obvious path what to do next, at least that he can control.

Good for him that he's made millions already and has some prospect of more; he's much better off than many other out of work guys.

Hope somebody picks him up, was a decent pass rusher when AD got hurt in 08 but unfortunately he broke his jaw shortly after.

He did recover it. The refs blew it.

If by "recover", you mean "falling awkwardly on the ball and failing to secure it while a man half your size rips it away from you", then yes, he did recover it.

Pierre Woods is Dead To Me for that et. al.

That said, the refs blatently BLEW the bogus call

Woods is a serviceable back-up and a solid special teams player. I wouldn't mind having him back for the vet minimum.

What ticks me off about that is that he *DID* recover the fumble. When Bradshaw leaped on him the play should have been over (Woods had possession; Bradshaw touching him would have meant that he was automatically down by contact). It was a huge play in the game.

Ggggrrrrrrrrr....

Woods reminds me of guys I played with...huge physical assets but minimal productivity on the field. I was for the guy his first several seasons figuring that some guys (Vrable, Ninkovich) develop their upsides late or need to find the right niche but despite years of opportunities in a desert of OLB talent Pierre never did.

I would NOT take the guy back for the vet minimum that he'd likely gladly accept because that part of the roster should be filled by young ST demons who have their own new opportunity to develop their potential upsides, not by a never was.

I've never seen any replays of the game, but I was sitting in that end zone and was jumping up and down because I saw that Woods had clearly recovered the fumble. Unfortunately, he allowed it to be taken in the scrum. Though honestly, not sure which is the worse offense: failing to secure the ball initially and letting someone else recover it; or, recovering it initially but letting a RB steal it from you.

I know I do.

And you're exactly right: it was inexcusable.
That was def. one of the plays that cost us all Immortality.

Stop talking about SB42 :violent:

Sorry, kept hearing how indispensable our special teamers were like Woods, aikens and Alexander. White comes in and sticks the kick returner dead twice, which i haven't seen in years. STs are much better IMO.

Nevermind waiting for someone to call... his home is in Cleveland, that's enough reason to be sad!
