I really hope the Denver vs. Baltimore game is on here this weekend. Somewhere on one of these threads somebody mentioned Skippy McDaniels and how he would deal with what the Pats have left.

The offensive situation in Denver is eerily similar to our new situation, no? They lost their premier receiver over the summer and their running game isn't exactly tearing it up (in fact, THEIR running game is OUR recently past running game). Kyle Orton has the most passing yards this year. I am blanking on whether Denver has any other premier receivers.

I am hoping Josh gives us a blue print on how to beat the Ravens less than 2 weeks from now.

Any thoughts?

Kyle Orton has huge balls.

He's throwing the ball 45 times a game, completing 70% of his passes. Brandon Lloyd, Eddie Royal, Jabar Gaffney, and rookie 1st rounder Demaryius Thomas are his primary recievers.

Josh McD + perpetually underrated QB + a combination of talent and journeyman recievers = lightning storm

now if they were to get that running game on track...

Just realized this is the only thread not related to or affected by Moss on the entire first page. Wonder if there was ever a precedent to this.

So, do you think we can copy them against Baltimore (assuming they win or at least keep it close)? OUr running back situation is better than theirs, I think, and so is our QB. We know about Gaffney. Are Lloyd and Royal better than Tate and Welker?

I agree with this thread. The trade pissed me off, and I might be in denial about how much of a distraction he became, but it's time to move on from Moss. Hopefully BB and the FO know what they're doing.

The clear positive to this trade is it forces Brady to play like he did from 2001-2006. He had been incredibly inefficient throwing to Moss this year (9 completions in 22 attempts), while when he throws to Tate/Hernandez/Gronk (whenever they're open) he's been great. This won't make the offense better points wise but they'll control the ball longer and keep the terrible defense on the sidelines. I can't wait to see them playing Baltimore next week.

I don't think we can really copy what they do, but win or lose I'm sure the tape of that game will go a long way in the Pats preparation for the Ravens D, considering McDaniels has a similar offensive mindset. We can look at what things we might do would work or not work and why.

Has Baltimore faced any good tight ends yet? I for one am hoping that with our new and improved offense either Hernandez or Gronk (probably Hernandez) develops into a Ben Coates type, always getting open and then just running people over once he has the ball (okay, sometimes BEFORE he has the ball). Man that guy was great in his prime. We haven't seen the likes of Coates in a long time.

Come on Hernandez & Gronk - we are counting on you!!

I hope that last years playoff game is in heavy rotation the next week and a half at Foxboro. I hope that the players (those who played the game last year) are motivated to "avenge" that game. That was one of the worst Pats games I ever watched, not counting that game which we shall not talk about...

Kyle Orton is soooo underrated. He's definitely in the top 5-10 QB in terms of I.Q. and composure. He hardly ever gets rattled and just gets on with the game. (He is the antithesis of Cutler). Orton plays the probability game well. I think he finally has a coach that trusts him and he is finally playing without any strings attached. He's not worried anymore about his job.

That said, I'm not worried about our offence, especially since Tom Brady is still our QB (remember him?). I prefer us gaining 10 yards at a time, rather than always bombing it to moss. It might be nice on the highlight reel but doesn't really help us in the long term. We need to help our defense and at the same time, tire the opponent defense. It's both a mental and physical game.

"Post Moss Era"

Ominous words...

So true. The difference between the Baltimore loss and the game that shall not be named (GTSNBN) is that the GTSNBN was heart-breaking, but the Baltimore loss was just down-right embarrassing. I was there and could not believe how bad the Pats played, in their own house no less!! It was like they didn't practice all week, just showed up at the stadium figuring they'd win, and then laid down when the going got tough. Ugh that was awful. Isn't Ray Rice hurt (soemwhat) at the moment?

You could consider Keller a pretty good TE. He was limited in the game against the Ravens, but I also got the feeling he (and Sanchez) limited himself more than Baltimore did.

Here are the TE stats against them so far (admitting stats don't tell the whole story):

NYJ - Keller = 2 rec, 13 yards

Cin - Gresham = 3 rec, 15 yards

Cle - Watson = 5 rec, 47 yards, 1 TD

Pit - Miller = 2 rec, 32 yards

Oddly enough, Ben Watson is the only TE who had any real success against them so far this year, but it's not exactly a star studded group they've faced thus far. I think Hernandez is more talented than any of them, with the exception of maybe Miller (because he's a vet), but he had Charlie Batch throwing to him, so who knows.

He had a knee injury that limited him last week but according to info on him, he had a full practice yesterday. Still probably not 100%

How ironic is it that BB will have to study game film of Ben Watson to see what he did against the Ravens? The Jets game, unfortunately, appears to have been a fluke or opening day jitters.

I was always puzzled by killing marching drives begun and sustained with steady dinking and dunking, with a hopeless Moss longball to a well covered Moss. This wasted a down, and the other two didn't add up to ten yards and a FD.

I thought that they would throw to Randy when he was open, not that he was demanding and getting his "Randy quota" of throws, open or not.

Why does everyone overlook the fact that the Pats BEAT Baltimore in the regular season last year? Why do we forget that Brady usually has one stinkeroo game a season, where he throws INTs by the bunch. It just happened in the Ravens playoff game, this time when it was 24-0 after only a few minutes into the game.
