OT: Packers lose Barnett for the season

The Packers are getting absolutely plagued with injuries, really is hurting their outlook for this year.

I like Barnett! Always thought he played when I have watched Packers games!

Shame about the injury!

Packers are getting hit hard by injuries especially on the defense. Their rookie safety who's started all 4 games just tore his ACL and is out for the year. Barnett is looking like he's out for the year with basically the same wrist injury that sidelined Urlacker a couple years ago. Also minor injuries to linebacker Brandon Chillar and safety Nick Collins could affect their starting lineup the next couple weeks.

Many Packer fans are going nuts over these injuries combined with the lack of a trade for Marshawn Lynch and with Moss being traded into the division. I'm still very optimistic about this season for the Packers:

-The backup safeties will have to step up, as they are unproven, but Atari Bigby will come back from the PUP list in two weeks taking Burnett's spot at strong safety.

-Charles Woodson has played safety for the Packers in a pinch, but he much prefers corner, and his playmaking ability goes way down. They probably won't go this route unless they take another injury to one of the safeties once Al Harris is back off the PUP list.

-They have very good depth at inside linebacker where Barnett and Chillar play, with AJ Hawk and Desmond Bishop being fully capable starters that haven't gotten much playing time this season. Barnett is one of the key players on the defense, but due to the depth the ILB's is probably the best position group to have a season ending injury in.

-The loss of Ryan Grant for the season has hurt, but a top notch running back is not necessary to win the superbowl as both Indy and Arizona each had the #32 ranked running attack when they went to the superbowl. John Kuhn looks to be serviceable as he's been averaging 4.7 YPC. He's a tough straight ahead bruising RB, but he's not going to evade anyone in the open field.

-The Packer offense is capable of being explosive. Once they find their groove, this offense will be downright scary.

AJ Hawk has been a huge disappointment, which is why he's not been a starter. With him playing full time, teams will be exploiting that position on the defense.

He's considering not undergoing surgery which could really affect his post-football career..

That's too bad. I hate to see that happen to any team, I mean it's one thing to chuckle when a team just flat-out suks but you have to feel for any team taken down by injuries. I feel for the fans too, what a bummer
