And it was at halftime. Now another thing to blame on O'Brien.

http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/news/story?id=5655198

Receiver Randy Moss and New England Patriots quarterbacks coach Bill O'Brien were involved in a heated exchange at halftime of the team's victory Monday over the Miami Dolphins, according to player sources.

The locker-room exchange, described as an "outburst" by one player, came two days before the Patriots traded Moss to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2011 third-round draft choice, and could have contributed to the team's decision to make the deal.

The Patriots trailed 7-6 at halftime of the game, and Moss had just one pass thrown in his direction in the first two quarters. He finished without a reception and wasn't thrown to in the second half.

On Wednesday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a statement that he has had discussions over the "past several months" with Moss and his representatives about Moss's "place on our team and his future in football." Belichick added that "many things were taken into consideration before making the trade."

Moss was in the final year of his contract and did not expect to return to New England in 2011.

Player sources said the halftime exchange was not the first time they had felt friction between Moss and O'Brien, who calls the offensive plays. After Monday's win, when asked by the Boston Herald about being held without a reception, Moss said, "It's called a game-plan."

Well, a few things...

While O'Brien calls the plays, Brady is the one who does the progressions and makes the decision whether to throw Randy's way.

Randy was doubled the entire game. Vontae Davis is a damn good CB and Sean Smith is no slouch on the other side. I didn't see Randy open much at all.. Plus, there were plenty of mis-matches with Hernandez, Welker, Gronkowski, and Woodhead.

There has always been at least one game a year where Randy wasn't going to be "THE MAN" from the receiver position.

O'Brien is a doofus. Moss is the only player on the team with any guts to call him out for what he is.

Watch and see how Childress uses Moss from here on out.

HUH???? The "dink and dunk" is not what they ran against Miami. Just because they didn't throw any deep passes, doesn't mean they didn't throw any intermediate routes. In fact, they threw more intermediate routes than they did anything else.

I like the dink and dunk offense. It's effective. The long ball is such a low percentage play - and if Moss is covered like a cheap suit - it's even lower. C'mon people. The sky is not falling that far....

Just my opinion on the matter, but if Moss weren't in a contract year I don't think he'd care as much. Right now with him getting up there in age, in a contract year, and with the threat of a lockout he wants to make sure his stats don't take a hit, and I can't really fault him for that. However, if he handled it badly, which appears could be the case, that just shows immaturity on his part.

If Mcdaniels was the OC i guanrantee u that Moss's numbers wouldnt be wat they are.

With Favre as QB, I'm pretty sure you will see a boatload on INT's as he needs to keep Randy happy. Plus - that play action sure is easy to sell when you have someone like Adrian Peterson in your backfield.

Brady will always do what he's being asked to do by the coaches, so the point is moot.

I can definitely see a situation where O'Brien and Moss just completely weren't on the same page. O'Brien doesn't want to design a ton of plays to try to exploit Moss with so much attention given to him by the defense and Moss believes he can help a lot more if just given the opportunity regardless of coverage. Of course I have no idea but it does make sense.

A doofus?
Since when, does a BB coached or a Bob Kraft owened team, let the inmates run the asylum

Did you just offer Childress as an example counter-point to a coaching doofus.

This has got to be the post of the day.

Seriously, thank you.

You can see how this went

Because BOB has been calling what we've all been asking for (i.e. spreading the catches, throwing to the open guy, not forcing it to Moss) Randy goes nuts at him at HT and demands Brady starts throwing to him

Seriously you cant run an offense like that

The fake spike throw was an audible from Brady. He called that play.

LOL Damned if you do throw to him and he doesn't deliver or worse... and damned if you don't...

If Moss wanted to yell at BOB, he should have taken a number and gotten behind half the posters on this site.

Last time I checked Bill O'brien was the OC of the #1 offense in the NFL

Perhaps Moss got into a shouting match with O'Brien at halftime and then got into another shouting match with Belichick yesterday (possibly because of the incident at halftime). According to Florio, Moss and Belichick have had problems all season.

So it's O'Brien's fault Moss wasn't getting any separation from Vontae Davis? Good to know.
