How was the crowd today?

It sounded very quiet while watching on my computer, but that doesn't always tell the real story. Definitely sounded alot quieter than Miami's. How was it in person?

I wish I would have known how it was in person. However, I wouldn't have been able to tell you... because I would have been screaming as loud as I possibly could.

True enough, except he *****ed about the crowd last week so him saying that the crowd was "great" and "loud" today is telling.

You can't judge crowd noise based just on TV since alot of that crowd volume depends on mic location and mixing (or whatever the technical words are).

I was just going to note this. The CBS games tend to be "quieter" from a crowd-noise standpoint. Fox is the loudest, followed by ESPN, with NBC and CBS both having the crowd noise lower in the mix.

Because we decided not to attend the pregame brunch ( samplings from Bavaria including wines from the Rhine Valley), we darted over to Holliston for mimosas at the Van Wykes. Of course it would never be a proper visit without a little trap shooting in the back fields... just a beautiful day. We rounded up the gang and popped in the limo and headed for the game. Traffic was very well organized and we shot right into the stadium around 1:45.

Once again Alex escorted us to our suite and the mimosas were waiting for our ladies. The men opted for a pilsner featured at the stadium brunch. We partially opened the viewing window to enjoy the fresh air and the throng below appeared quite tense. We flipped on the flat screens to find out the score, and sure enough, the Patriots were engaged in a tight match.

As we settled in for the afternoon, our suite became an open house for our neighboring suite owners down the corridor. The boys from Fidelity dropped by and of course Gold was their topic of choice. My man from Morgan dropped by to show off photos of his cottage in Bar Harbor. All in all, it was wonderful to spend time with good friends.

We ducked out around 3:15, our sitter had to be back on campus at Andover by dinner time. We tried to catch the last period on the limo flat screen, but the satelite gizmo never seems to work with the stretch Hummers.

Just a beatiful New England day and it was grand to hear that the home team won their contest.

This was sort of "cute" a couple weeks ago but you're now going overboard with the self-amusement.

Dolphins stadium crowd noise was nuts and I wish we can have at least half of it .

That said, since the natural grass is gone in gillette, can we close both the open ends in the stadium ?

It was such an up and down game. When Moss caught his second TD they panned to a person who had a Randy Moss mask on. Then they panned to Moss who gave a double thumbs up the crowd went crazy. Then on the ensuing kick off the Bills ran it back for a TD which completely deflated the crowd.

Nice, glad to hear it. I guess I couldn't hear the crowd because I was too busy blasting my progressive rock trying to stay awake until 4:30 AM.

I swear that nothing is as deflating for the home team crowd as a KO return for a TD by the visiting team.

Umm -- when is the last time the Patriots lost a game with Brady at QB that they might have won with more crowd noise?

I thought the same thing. It really is getting to be a problem. It's been that way since day one of the stadium opening and particularly in the red seat area, as we have all mentioned at one time or another.

I was at the second game ever played at Gillette and I commented immediately about the red seats and the people who "almost" occupy them, how empty they are and how devoid of crowd noise from an area of the stadium that should be where a lot of noise is generated from.

And, unfortunately, there is no cure for the problem.

I would not make a judgement from television.

I remember people commenting how quiet on TV the AFCCG in 2008 was. I was at the game. It was very loud.

Considering I got yelled at for standing up in section 106 and cheering, pretty damn good because I didnt give a rats *****. It was better than the first game but could be much better.

It just pisses me off, these people are there for reason, Tom Brady, then when Tom Brady calls out the fans and basically tells us that we suck, they all bad talk him and when 3rd and 8 comes up for Buff Im on the only one in my row standing and cheering while they all sit and give me dirty looks.

As I said I Gronked it up after the TD but people looked baffled. Not a bad crowd though.

But I unexpectedly got a seat upgrade! So instead of 4 rows from heaven, I was in 4th row in 225. But I was still with my father in law. My brother-in-law shaking his head throwing his hands in the air everytime someone stood up in front of him. But it was a different ball game from those seats. Crowd was not as detached down there. I was loving it.

THEN at 9:30 in the 4th, FIL says "We should leave now in case the Pats score"

The fans were very much into the game; not just on 3rd down defensive plays but 1st and 2nd downs also. Plenty of noise, as much as this stadium will allow, at the appropriate times. There are a couple of video gimmicks with Brandon Merriweather and Tully Banta-Cain firing up the crowd and a "noise-meter" that helps get things started. The TV broadcast doesn't come close to capturing the noise and I'll assume the computer stream is probably just as bad.
We'll never again have the magic of 60,000 people stomping on aluminum benches and it's tough to equal that with pure lung power but give the fans some credit, there was plenty of effort.
