I couldn't of said it better myself. Exactly why players need to figure out what's right for them rather then just taking their agent's word for it. McNeil became less of a man today.

He was more of a man when he made a decision for himself and stuck it out. Admitting he was wrong took that out of him. Now he has to live as less of a man and with less of a paycheck.

$37K per game for 10 games vs. $200K per game for 16... 6 fewer opportunities for injury for a mere $2.75M... Let me think about it...for about 30 seconds back in August...

There is an age old rule of thumb in warfare. Know your enemy. Jackson's agents were in a tough spot because while they knew the holdout tactic would eventually prevail in the swamp where all decisions are desperation driven and they had to know they would never prevail vs. AJ in SD. Not sure what Alvin Keels and Frank Bauer were ever thinking. Holdouts certainly elevate an agents profile. The downside is failure to manage a holdout successfully can be a career killer. Staging a holdout in this labor environment was probably the worst decision an agent could guide a player to make because whether they play this season and get hurt or play down the stretch and don't perform well or don't play at all, there is a real chance they can never make up for the lost income, which is difficult to do under optimum conditions.

$2.75M might not sound like much in the grand scheme of things for a 27 year old LT, but if through some further twist of fate it's the last annual 7 figure paycheck you ever realize in this league you could live to regret it for half a century...
