We need another cornerback

If it's the PI that bugs you what about the fact that he perfectly played the pass on the first PI he received. Belichick was a bit mad over that call since Butler made the play right in front of him.

First, I acknowledge that Butler had a bad game. But people are overblowing this. Why did Sanchez throw his way 7 times? Well, he was on Edwards. Holmes isn't out there on the opposite side. Cotchery is. That's why Sanchez was going to the #1 receiver on the field. He also threw at McCourty a few times. I'm not blasting McCourty, not at all, but Sanchez threw 2 passes for TDs against McCourty.

Good points in this thread.
You make it sound like Edwards is a better receiver than Cotchery, which many people would dispute.

Thats ridiculous. The corners were nowhere near the main reason we lost.

Do you think Bodden would have likely made the same PI mistakes that Butler had? Mark Sanchez really isn't a good QB in my opinion. If we had the veteran presence of Bodden in the secondary it wouldn't have been as easy for Sanchez. I am not saying that the main reason we lost was because of the secondary but it was a huge factor in the loss. The defense has enough problems and missing one of our starting corners is just another problem.

Really? I never heard anyone dispute that.

Edwards is as good a receiver as Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Vincent Jackson... when he catches the ball.

Edwards has the worst hands in the entire NFL.

On Sunday, he was catching the ball.

How many times have we watched Edwards, wide-open, drop the ball? A lot.

I can't see how anyone would dispute that Edwards is a stud with severe dropsies.

Bodden had bad days last year. Let' see how the season goes. Besides, many of those passing yards for Sanchez were over the middle.

Edwards is a beast physically, but Cotchery runs crisp routes and has incredibly soft hands. I wouldn't be so quick to say its harder to cover Edwards.

If only he weren't a jet...
