Moss vs. Revis this week

Re: Moss vs Revis this week

Interesting question - why didn't Revis cover the Ravens' top receiver, Anquan Boldin last night?

Because I think the Ravens were using Mason as the deep threat. Boldin is not traditionally the deep threat.

I was listening to the game on the radio (local Baltimore broadcast, since I was driving through the area). They said the Jets had Revis follow Boldin around the field in the second half.

It's in the link...

First, due to his 36-day holdout, Revis wasn't ready on Monday night to shadow Anquan Boldin of the Ravens for the entire game. We can't imagine Revis being ready to take on Moss without help over the top.

Note that this is being set up like Ryan said it, but it's actually coming from Florio, though. So take it for what it's worth.

Re: Moss vs Revis this week

Matt Bowen at National Football Post says the Ravens moved Boldin around to avoid Revis. If that were the case, wouldn't the two have been matched up at least some of the time?

Yes. Boldin is the Raven's #1 WR. That's who the Jets usually try to get Revis matched up against.

With Revis fresh off of a holdout, I can't imagine him covering Moss 1-on-1.

I was thinking about that factor going into this week, but sort of forgot about it after he had a good game last night (although I think he was getting away with some holding).

40 times:

Anquan Boldin 4.71 (Combine)
Darrelle Revis: 4.38 (Combine)
Randy Moss: 4.25 (Florida State)

Hmm...Randy may have lost a step, but I think the "island" might be a bit smaller this year if Revis is not yet in peak condition.

Re: Moss vs Revis this week

Thanks for the link.

As one of the comments mentioned, is this Rex's way of trying to bait Brady into throwing only to Moss to prove Rex wrong and in the process ignore the other side?

Don't think it will happen until there is a comfortable lead.

With the steady blitzes, I expect our TEs to receive a lot more.

Nah......It is pretty hard to get into Tom's head.

If he is playing mind games it is on Randy (who is not nearly as stable as Tom). Trying to get Randy pissed when Tom (at BB's direction) is not throwing at Randy, wanting Randy to throw a tentertatum for not getting the ball. I don't think it will work. But Randy is the easier target for a mind game.

Revis vs welker esp if Welker can cut like the pre injury , i will take welker. in revis's own words last yr ..he said welker put a triple move on him and it was unbelievable

Brady is not going to have more then 3 seconds to throw so if he wants to get it to Moss it will have to be under 15 yards. Anything more then that he will be throwing a jump ball with a defender in his face.

Can't wait to watch this matchup. Moss vs Revis is the new Deion vs Rice... okay, maybe not.

I'd put Revis on Welker and keep Moss doubled with Safety help. as someone said, Brady may not have much time to throw with all the pressure and blitz packages so Welker would be a more effective receiving threat.

With that being said, I hope Edleman is ready to go this week and we may need him. also, could be some interesting TE packages this week as well.

Predictions? I would love to see Moss make some plays on this guy, hopefully he has his head in the game. In a way I think playing the Jets this week is a good thing, hopefully Randy will rise to the challenge.

I like the timing of this if it forces Moss to pay attention and refocus.

It's time to start showing Randy the love.... Maybe hang this on the Prudential?

Interesting...

I didn't watch the game, but I just heard on the radio that the Jets kept Revis on one side of the field (intentionally).

They speculated that he wasn't (likely) in the proper condition to play the top receiver regardless of where that receiver lined up. I hope this is true. Knowing Bill, he'll find a way to exploit this to no end. I expect Bill to also exploit the absence of Kris Jenkins and Calvin Pace as well.

Ideally, Moss goes up one-on-one with Revis.... dominates him and the Pats reward him with a new three year contract.

I really think Revis can't shutdown Welker.

Re: Revis on moss

It's comical how Ron Borges spins everything he does to accomodate his hatred of the Patriots, and BB in particular. He is a joke and I cannot understand how or why he is employed in any capacity by anyone in the sports world. It's beyond pathetic that he is the only person in the Boston area to have a Hall of Fame vote. When it's BB's turn (if Borges makes it that far), the vote will be 99 (or however many votes there are) to 1.

Re: Revis on moss

I hope Moss makes some catches and scores a TD.Get him involved.Try picking on Revis even on a long bomb.Maybe we can catch a penalty on him.Its better to test him out.

Re: Revis on moss

Love how Revis is calling out a guy 8 years older than him. Randy is still a beast, but a 25 yr old Moss would school that punk 24/7.

Re: Revis on moss

The rivalry grows! Can't wait for this game.
