Notable NFL cuts 8/31

Very interesting point.

6'4"
270
34.5 Vertical, which puts him slightly above average.
4.63 Shuttle, which puts him right in the middle.

What really surprises, me, though, is that this guy with a great blend of size and intriguing explosiveness got drafted in the 5th Round, registered 2 Sacks in the first 3 games...and got CUT!!

Why NOT take a look??

Given the situation with Jermaine Cunningham, I don't know how you don't. There will be few young guys that fit the Pats size requirements available. Here's one.

Sure, there must be something wrong. That's why he's available. But it's not like the Pats have so much depth.

i always thought Derrick Ward was a PERFECT FIT for the patriots. hes excellent running the ball out of the shotgun offense. i really hope we get him

I'd rather not see anybody with questions about their work ethic signed. Especially at a position as deep as running back is right now.

Note that Brian Bulaga hasn't been looking anything like a 1st-rounder, either. Methinks that OL master Ferentz coached that line up to be much, much more than the sum of its parts.

Very possible. I don't think that Bulaga will ever be an All-Pro-calibre LT, maybe not even a starting-calibre OT; his future likely lies inside.

Davis has all the measurables, but an early cut like this is one more red flag in a long list of them.

Despite his NFL physique, he didn't dominate at all in a small conference. Then there was some issue of him turning down post-season bowl appearances to focus on Combine training. It all points to a guy who's a much better athlete than football player.

That small conference could also mean that there weren't any other good players that the opposition needed to deal with. We just need him to be an effective part of a machine, maybe the other team was the wrong fit for a plethora of reasons. I say bring him in and work him out.

We're deep but also thin at the same time. Anyway, being cut just might the kind of humiliation he needs along with a chance for redemption. Structure any contract with him to the back end and you might have a nasty weapon.

Could be...but fwiw, Hall's career stats in 4 years at Louisiana-Lafayette:
47 games, 77 tackles, 8 sacks

Edit: that output looks a lot like ONE year of Dane Fletcher at Montana State!
