Gutted to wake up and find Bodden is out for the season

Might need McCourty to develop quick than we ideally wanted him to!

Or it could be that Merriweather has CB skills and actually saw a substantial amount of time at CB during his rookie TC. Not to mention what he did while he was at Miami, whenever they went up against a big time receiver they moved Merriweather to CB and had him cover him.

What you call made up, I call deductive reasoning...
And it gets better, since this is a one game at a time team: Cincinnati has two big physical WRs, I'd rather line Meriweather up at CB with Butler and let McCourty have some time to get used to NFL regular season game speed.

I wonder if Ross Ventrone or one of the reserve WRs get CB game reps against NYG? Ventrone's Pro-day numbers compare well to Samuel, Hobbs, Wheatley, and Wilhite. Jenkins, Farnham, Tate, and Price all played DB in high school, not to mention Welker.

Moss also had as many INTs as Chung and Springs last season

Kato Serawanga. Problem solved.

Four letters Box,,,,,,,,,,,,,,O.T.I.S.

This team is a long way from competing for a Championship this year, although thanks to the lack of end product from the 2006-8 drafts we have said that the last few years. Injuries are out of Belichick's control but I find the fact that he has failed to adequately address the passrush problem again troubling, and it might leave out young secondary exposed.

This team still has enough about it with the offense and good coaching to win the AFC East but at this point in time I see little to suggest we can do better than a 11-5/10-6 regular season and an early playoff exit. Too many holes and too many question marks. We desperately need this rookie class to contribute big time. till, there's going to be some shootouts to look forward to

Next stop, Ty Law.

well, I for one, thank you for bringing some laughter to this thread of depressing comments.

The way people are posting, you'd think Brady was IR'd. But wait! Pats went 11-5 with Brady on IR. Hell, they won it all while having Earthwind Moreland in the secondary. Surely the season isnt over just because Bodden went on IR.

No kidding.

This board is almost as bad now with the lost of a decent, but hardly MVP, CB as it was when Tom went down.

Every year, every team deals with loss of players. Not have Bodden doesn't hurt our secondary nearly as much as not having MEvi$ Island hurts our division rival.

Right now the Patriots are undefeated. I can't panic about the teams prospect when they are undefeated.

3-4 olb pass rushers are like QB's when you find a good one its because you got damn lucky. not one college runs anything close to what BB's defenses do. All you can do is project. more times than not you end up with vernon gholston. you cant count the DE's that have made the transition on one hand in the last decade.

Bodden is OK and at this point the best CB NE had, but I'd have to rank him somewhere in the middle 1/3 of CBs in the NFL. Maybe on the upper end of that group.

Me thinks a Vet will get cut and BB will sign him up. And, if that doesnt work there will be a trade.

BB is a problem solver and he knows this NE offense has the potential to be something great with a healthy Brady.

Give it more time then we can start sifting through more released players maybe the Lions will gut my main man Dre Bly...

In this defense, Dre Bly would probably make Deltha O'Neal look like Deion Sanders. No thanks. I wonder if Ty Law would be willing to come back to play some nickel and dime defense. Either way, this is a huge blow to what was already a young secondary that was going to experience some growing pains.

Those NFC North games are looking a lot more daunting right now.

While I disagree with your rankings of Bodden..I still agree with the team making a move. (So Bodden in top of middle third....so???? maybe low 60s out of top 100??? OR??? Seems a bit low to me...and what of their OTHER CBs....don't wish to know...)
I do agree a vet will be added just for stabilization and to add depth of course. BUT I also agree whatever works..

Yes but Ty Warren was another one , and Mankins was another one, and Nick Kaczur was another one.

Greetings,

You are right, and each player keeps adding up.

Peace,

Forget it.

He's on a roll.

* And, yes: you ARE required to watch that movie, before posting again. :snob:

Surprised it took a whole day for someone to post this...just as classic of a line as the speech!

You forgot Slater...who has played DB for them in the past in the preseason and regular season. If they were to use a reserve WR as a DB it would be him over one of the no-chance guys.

Every year when roster cut down day comes the Pats make some sort of move. Last year the big one was with trading Seymour, but the also acquired Bret Lockett the day after roster cuts last year. After the Bodden injury I honestly see BB making a move to secure a possible nickel corner, or another DE. I wouldnt be surprised if he gives up a draft choice, since we have built up a pretty good supply of them, it would be a good time to use an extra one to help the team this year... But year after year at least one move is usually made, and I would expect no different this year, Im sure Bill and Nick are scouring the league looking to make this team better.

I considered Slater, but BB likes his CBs quick, Slater is fast, which is why he played Safety.
