Draft Day 3 Thread

Damn, Al Woods, a guy I was targeting just went

Get ****ed Saints.

Saints just took Al Woods...

Arthur Jones still on the board. Do want...

I really thought we would have packaged the 5th and 7th to move up by now. Must be content at where they sit.

I'd still be happy with White for high-floor, low ceiling, and Long or Webb as shoot-the-moon picks.
I forgot about Webb. Yes Long and Webb I would spend late 7 round pick or priority undrafted free agents but I would love to have Blair White because as you said high floor with a low ceiling.

If there were ever a time for that, it's now. Huge draft haul from last year, another huge class this year, and 4 picks in the first 2 rounds next year. Youth aplenty. Meanwhile, some excellent talent is still around in the 4th/5th in this crazy-deep draft. I'd do it.

Trade value though says you can't do this unless there are teams like Chicago that are desperate for multiple picks.

Usually, when it comes to trade value, 7th rounders are worth a couple points, while trading up in the 5th means about 8 to 10 points.

So, you'd need like 6 7th rounders to give a team value according to the chart.

Then again, like I said, a team like Chicago might be motivated.

Only 1 of our 7th round picks can be traded, and our 6th can not. If the pats trade up significantly, I'd expect players and/or 2011 picks to be involved.

The Pats have 5-7th round picks and 2 of them can be traded.

Don't know Tim Hiller but wouldn't mind Crompton. I really like Jarrett Brown's raw skill set even though he only started for one year. Big arm and surprisingly very good accuracy.

What's the scoop on Hiller?

He's your typical Pats QB. Super intelligent, unbelievably productive in college, tall, great mechanics, and even has the funky shaven head.

Look at the value chart.

a 7th is worth either 1 or 2 points. You can only move up a couple spots in the 5th by adding a 7th.

Anyone suprised that Cam Thomas is still there? with all the 3-4 teams I thought he would have been a bigger commodity.

We should just offer our 5th and a 7th to Buffalo right now for Aaron Schobel. Veteran who could hold the job until we can get a DE in next years draft.

Damn Norwood to Carolina.

Pass rushing OLB extraordinaire!!!

Norwood to the Panthers. Good pick...

There is still some real talent at the Dline and OLB. I think a flyer of Schofield in the 5th or 6th wouldn't be a a bad idea
Schofield won't be ready until 2011, most likely. Also, at his size, he'd have to move inside. The Pats now have 4 ILBs in Mayo, Guyton, Spikes, and McKenzie. Yes, they could add another one but does he bring value???

If you look at Long's and White's times in ss, vj, etc., they are off the charts. Yet supposedly they are very low ranked...white was super productive and it says long is highly thought of as well...so why are they projected so late?

woods was a little bit of an underachiever for a long time.

I'm still hoping for dixon in the 5th, but we will see.

29 sacks and all-time record holder at an SEC school.

Norwood was an excellent college football player.

Alright, Norwood gone...........

Am I the only one going nutty over Johnathan Dwyer? He could be the best RB in this class and before football ended was right next to matthews and spiller.

I am TOTALLY with you. Look at my posts on Dwyer and you'll see I could have written the exact same sentence.

Pats have 5 now.. though Hernandez is more of an undersized TE/H-back than a true TE.

Not thrilled with the pick. Rather have Al Woods or Arthur Jones.

I don't know about Jones, but I've seen a lot of Woods and was always underwhelmed. I think he's exactly the kind of player the Pats are going away from: amazing physical specimen but questionable onfield results.
