Albert Breer and Tom Curran we be 2 people on the outside on the Patriots beat. Their unprofessional over-reactions clearly show that they have grown too big for their britches.. Not that I have read Curran since he became a sell-out. But I was surprised by Breer's meltdown... Very uncharacteristic of him..

Personally, they owe the fans an apology for their unprofessionalism. Not that I truly expect them to give it.. But it's just another reason for me not to read their stuff.

What are you talking about? Its called freedom of speech, they can write what ever they want. Their job is to produce objectivity, not bowing down to BB and the Patriot organization. I have no problem with it, it isnt like they write articles like that all the time like Borges, Felger and Shank. They felt criticism was necessary and wrote about it, not a big deal.

Yeah, I agree with Dynasty. Certainly there's no reason to criticise Curran and Breer, they're only saying what their opinion is. It's trolls like Borges that I despise.

Yes, because the reporters are supposed to worship at the alter of BB.

I don't have a real problem because it wasn't like they completely destroyed the team for the pick. However, what I don't get is how they in a way bash the pick by saying that drafting McCourty is just an admission that some of the previous moves in the secondary were wrong.

Um.......okay. What's your point?

Should we have not taken an OLB because it admits that we missed on Shawn Crable and A. Thomas?

Again, I just don't understand that argument.

DUDE - Clearly you don't get it. You didn't get it last night and you'll never get it.

You also don't understand that Freedom of Speech does NOT protect you from the repercussions of using said Freedom.

You clearly don't understand what the job of a sports journalist is. It's to report the news. It's not to castrate the coach just because you aren't intelligent enough or don't understand enough to comprehend their thinking.

The melt-downs by both were nothing but garbage. There was NO OBJECTIVITY in them. They were their own OP EDs. And they showed that both were clueless about the Pats operations during the draft.

Woah woah woah woah woah hold on. Chill.

If you're the Jacksonville beat reporter, are you not allowed to rip them for drafting Tyson Alualu at 10?

If you're the Bills beat reporter, are you not allowed to rip them for pointless drafting CJ Spiller when they had so many other needs?

If they are, then leave Breer and Curran alone. They weren't doing a Borges. I like the McCourty pick, having now researched him, but I knew jack **** about him beforehand - and I could have recited info on the top 100 picks of this draft. Just didn't study him because I didn't think we'd go for a corner in the 1st.

No, clearly you are the one that doesnt get it....

You don't know what the job of a sports journalist is. Yes, part of being a sports journalist is reporting sports news, but also the second part of that is analyzing and commenting on what took place. I don't understand what you expected them to say? By your logic if any of these guys agreed with the pick they shouldn't be allowed to say that because their job is just to report the news. What if these guys said they loved the pick? You wouldn't be having these idiotic thoughts. They earned the right to be a writer so they have the opportunity to comment how ever they may want. It has no effect on the team or anyone within the organization. The team has their job to draft players, while the media has their job to report the news as well as comment on what took place. Sometimes their opinion is not going to be the same as the Patriots, are they supposed to ignore their opinion and write what the Patriots would want them to write?

Get a clue about the job and duties of a sports writer and stop complaining just because your God Belichick was put into question. Nobody's perfect, people do make mistakes, it doesnt mean Breer or Curran hate Belichick or the Pats. Relax.

Their reactionary posture is designed to bring attention to themselves, look how well it has worked for D & C, Felger et al...

Tom Curren is one of the best beat writers on the planet... and Breer is not to far behind him... Sorry, I understand why they question the pick...

Breer and Curran were both good to excellent in the recent past.

And neither shows signs of ever getting to be as bad as Borges, except when they comment on other sports (I'm thinking of Curran on basketball).
