Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

I have given this some thought. The Steelers would like Bradford. Anal Pore or not, Ben will upgrade the QB positions on most Teams even if you don't want to use the "franchise QB" word. Remember they said that about Cutler.

Rams trade their #1, their #33 and DE Adam Carriker (former first rounder and still young) as the Steelers are needing a DE badly and he will make a top 3-4 DE rather than a lousy DT, to the Steelers for Ben and the Steelers #15. Done deal.

Perhaps the women folk in St.Louis aren't that good looking and perhaps they have a leash law for Big Ben to holster "scruffy". I guess when Big Ben is on the prowl he takes trolling literally.

You think that the Rams would trade their top 2 picks and a young player who could probably fetch a 3rd/4th round pick for a QB who could get into trouble any day?

I'd give a 2nd max.

Never happen capn. Rapist or not, he has not been convicted so he is under scrutiny. You get a franchise QB who won two SB and yet they call Cutler a Franchise QB.

Besides all the off-the-field stuff, what are you exactly getting on the field.

*I think you are getting a qb in the 2nd tier in the league, not first.

1. Brady
2. Manning
3. Brees
------
Rivers, Roethlisberger, Schaub, Rodgers.

He may be a 2x champion, I think talent wise he's on par with those 4. His teams have fetched the #1 defense in the league a couple of times.

*You are getting a QB who is a couple of big hits/concussions from doctors suggesting for him to retire.

*His contract.

I value him as a late 1st, early 2nd. The Rams #1, #33 and a DE? Are you crazy, Brady and Manning might not even get that.

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

That's more or less what was said when Bledsoe went to the Bills. That didn't turn out too well either. Ben could be on top of his game, but without good receivers and TE, and an O-line that can protect him, he'll end up with a new sack record.

Bledsoe led the Bills to significant improvement.

McNabb is a Franchise QB. 2nd rounder.

Just because the Bears overpayed for Cutler who has few personal issues, doesn't mean that anyone should overpay for someone who is one more stupid offence from prison.

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

Bledsoe led the Bills to significant improvement.

That's true, but they had only i1(?) winning season in that whole time?

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

I think he's a bit overrated, but he's better than anything they've had in a long while, and he's good at escaping trouble(with women too it seems), which will help with that sieve OL.

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

Bledsoe led the Bills to significant improvement.

They were 22-26 in the three seasons before the trade and 23-25 in the three season after the trade... They were 3-13 in the season before the trade. They were 8-8 in the season before that and 8-8 the season after that, in the first season with Drew...

Pre-Bledsoe: 3-13

Bledsoe:
8-8
6-10
9-7

Post-Bledsoe:
5-11

When Bledsoe arrived on the scene, Buffalo had already gone from Flutie to Johnson to Van Pelt, and from 11-5 to 8-8 to 3-13. Since Flutie lost his starting job to Johnson (2000), the Bills have had one winning season. That was 9-7 with Bledsoe. They've had 3 seasons of .500 or better, and 2 of those were with Bledsoe at QB. This happened even with Mike Williams being drafted and becoming a major bust at tackle. You're going back 3 seasons in order to include the 11-5 Flutie years, which is a blatant attempt to skew the data.

No it's not. It's a pretty clearly rational comparison of the three years before he arrived with the three years after he arrived (because that is how long he lasted) that counters your claim that he led the team to significant improvement. What happened after he left is meaningless, particularly in that context.

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

I can't see Pittsburgh parting ways with him for less than a first until/unless some concrete evidence, and not just hearsay, comes to the surface in this case.
Pittsburgh just dumped it's #1 WR on "hearsay." Do they like that they may have to dump their QB after all he's done for them and all they've invested in him? Not a chance, but they like what he's doing off the field even less, "hearsay" or not, reading something like Ben Roethlisberger's Bad Play - April 15, 2010 is not going to put President Obama's Ambassador to Ireland in a forgive and forget mood - just how many "Rapistberger" signs in opposing stadiums do you think they want to read?

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

Not a chance in hell the Steelers trade their Franchise. The Rooneys are going to bend over backwards to protect him. They already got rid of their other woman abuser Holmes in one of several symbolic moves to make sure Ben gets his act together. And if this latest incident/close call hasn't rattled Ben on some level, then he is truly ******ed. I don't think he is.

People way overestimate the intelligence/sensitivity of the Steeler fanbase [and NFL fans in general]--most of them would still walk across a desert for this guy.

That's not what I'm reading... Steeler fans are really torn about this in part because it is so embarassing. Typically some of the hardcore male fans want to dismiss it, but a substantial portion of the fan base is either ready to move on despite the consequences or at the point where they want to see him punished despite the consequences and if he gets caught again regardless of the outcome they want him gone.

Big difference. Santonio Holmes was not the face of the franchise and had already gotten caught with weed on him and his car smelling like a cannabis farm. Color me suprised if the Steelers don't have a little more patience with Roethlisberger.

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

I live down the street from a die-hard Steeler fan. He has always had a pretty good feel of the Rooney's (they do not put up with sheet). If the Steelers have a "good' offer on Ben, he's gone. Think about this, motorcycle incident = young kid not thinking: First time sexual accusation = celebrity's bad luck; Second time sexual accusation (where accuser information is damaging) = sheet hitting fan. There is not a third time offense and football season played, being used in the same sentence. If the Steelers can get one of the top tiered QB's in this draft, they trade him. I don't care about franchise QB or whatever terminology you use. If Ben pulled a Vick, and did not tell Rog. everything he's done (the legal report came out after Ben talked to Roger). He's done for the year.
Does anyone think, just maybe that Ben might have a problem? Anyone old enough to remember a star receiver having similar problems?
You shouldn't be surprised if Pittsburgh drafts a qb come Thursday.

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

I wish people would stop referring to him as a rapist etc. Nothing has been proven and he deserves the assumption of innocence. He's an absolute meat-head but celebrities do have the cross-hairs unfairly aimed at them all day every day. That's a lifestyle not many people can profess to be intimate with.

The trappings and perks of celebrity. It's a different world.

Ben has already posed as a hood ornament. He looks fat and dissipated (I know about these things). He's still facing a court case in Nevada which now has another case to exercise discovery upon, not to mention the third case reported to have occurred in Las Vegas. You may have a cynical view of the Rooney's, but they do have some success in the league and a reputation to consider.

I do not carry the same burden of evidence as a court of law.

He had the assumption of innocense until the transcirpts were released.

Not going to trial because of a lack of evidence is NOT the same as being innocent.

The story being told is pretty plain.

Rapist pervert scum. The PA state cop is just as bad. "To Serve and Pander"

Re: Gut feeling: Buffalo is going to offer a pick-package for Big Ben

From what I can see over at SteelersFever, it's probably 60% in support of Ben, but that's a major drop from the huge love he was getting before all of this. There are apparently other incidents like this that might come to the surface. It's a disturbing trend. Once or maybe twice can be chalked up to a number of things; more than that and you're looking at a pattern.

I think the Rooneys will do something, but whether or not they'd actually trade him is a different story.

I think this is shaping up to be a case where this guy has gotten away with it for so long that it's bound to catch up with him. And sexual predators don't reform. If that's what he is, it'll come out in the wash soon enough.
