The league is too QB starved for him to get into the 20's. I'm guessing anywhere from 8ish-18

Rumor has it that the 49ers may be making a deal with Washington to move up to #4 to get Clausen...but I don't know why they would not sit for him if they want him,he should be there when its their turn to pick.

I don't think he makes it out of the top 10. Ultimately what the Rams do will determine where Clausen goes, but from Seattle at #6, to Jacksonville at #10, all those teams could realistically use a QB long term. The question is what do the Rams do. If I were the Rams, I'd move out of #1 if they want Bradford, since no team inside the top 5 is likely to take a QB. I think they should take Suh #1, but that's me. However, if they are set on Sam B, then why not work a deal with one of the teams behind you for the top spot. I'm sure Washington would move to #1, to take Suh. Wouldn't Tampa love to leap frog the Lions? Even if all you pick up is a first day pick or two, I think it's worth it from the Rams perspective. Absolute worst case, someone takes Bradford, and the Rams take Clausen. I could be wrong, but I think Clausen is going to be a terrific pro. Attitude questions and all.

I do understand the "if you think you've found your QB idea," though. I guess part of my premise is that I'm not so convinced Bradford is head and shoulders above to start with. (Actually, his head is fine -- it's just the shoulders I'm worried about. )

In any case, I was discussing dynamics of the draft, not the quality of the players.

As was the case with Sanchez and Quinn, there are those discussing 5-10 and the those discussing 25-30.

I'm in the 5-10 camp.

I just don't like to mess around with QB. If you love the guy then take him whatever the cost. If you don't love him take someone else. I guess I remember the Colts' tough decision on Manning vs. Leaf too much; good thing for them they didn't trade down

Bottom line for me, the QB decision affects you for the decade, get the guy you really want.

I think he drops to #7 where someone trades with the Browns to take him.

And he's going to have a better career than Sam Bradford.

I'm going to say more of Brady Quinn, though he is not brought up as the top QB in this draft like Quinn was. The reason I say Quinn is because Clausen was throwing to 2 1st round potential WRs, and he may be over valued. If you remember Quinn had Jeff Samardzija and Maurice Stovall.

If you think about it, Oakland is situated perfectly to screw up a lot of mock drafts by going off the tracks and doing something bizarre.

I think there are a lot of teams that are setting up situational type trades with the teams sitting in the #7 to #15 slots and Al Davis can single handedly cause havoc by taking Bryant, McClain, Claussen, Morgan or Spiller instead of an offensive tackle as most have projected.

I'm not convinced.

QB is the exception to every rule. An absolute MUST have regardless of cost or circumstance.

If you look at the Patriots roster from 1976 through 1979, you see tons of playmakers at every position, except 1, QB. If New England had Pastorini instead of Grogan, we would have a SB or 2 during that window, even against the mighty Steelers.

No - but if there's one they like then they must take him. You have to trust your scouts and doctors and then your coaches to develop him. If you're told his shoulder is fine and that he's that good they, yes, they MUST take him.
