There is a lot of talk about specific defensive players, whether they should get drafted, and what positions they will play on the Pats. It really depends on the base defense doesn't it? If we knew the Pats would go to a 4-3 last year would Connor Barwin still be a binky? So before we decide whether a player is a good fit for the Pats; what are your thoughts on the base defense for next year?

3-4... ALL DAY EVERY DAY.

Now if we could only get the other pieces we need to make it work.

Now if we could only get the other pieces we need to make it work.

I wish is was that easy to say we're 3-4 and sign as such. Last year everyone was talking about drafting a 3-4 OLB as a top need, and none were taken. Then the Pats switched to a 4-3 front. Somewhat disappointing after doing all that research to find a player to fit a position that didn't exist.

3-4 with the roster to mix in a 4-3 in specific situations.

4-3 for me.

I outlined in this thread the other day, my reasons for it too.

Simply put, it's much much much tougher to find the right fits for 3-4 due to the competition. At the start of the decade, and even just 5 years ago, there were only 4 or 5 teams that ran the 3-4, now it's half the league.

It's easier to find better fits and get better value in the Draft running the 4-3, especially in years like this.

Our personnel also fits the scheme better. Guyton is a good player, but clearly a 4-3 WLB. Mayo is a natural 4-3 MLB. Wright and Pryor are natural 4-3 UT's, Brace is a natural 4-3 NG.

I just think we should adapt to the current climate - something BB is renowned for doing.
