Who else will cheer when the Pats take Golden Tate?

I don't know what's weaker, our LBer unit or the receiver corps. But it looks as though Karlos Dansby can be had as a free agent.

A 39-year-old Moss and a one-legged Welker don't impress.

BTW, Tate is the best receiver to come out IMO since Larry Fitzgerald.

Problem is Golden Boy is rapidly climbing.

I was hoping he would slide to one of our 2nd rounders now I doubt he last till #22. The only knock on this guy was that he doesn't have elite speed, well the 4.36 he just ran says otherwise. If he makes it to #22 I hope we grab him, he would be a stud as our #2 receiver. I think the lack of a decent #2 receiver was an even bigger problem last year than our lack of pass rush, if welker & moss were covered NOBODY else could get open. ( will be much worse next year with no welker for at least 50% of the year ).

Tate is looking good this Combine, but so are a lot of other receivers. I wouldn't reach for a WR in round 1 when you can get a guy like Gilyard or Damian Williams in round 2.

He's also 5'10", that's not a game ender for a WR obviously but it's not what is looked for as a #1 WR. He also dropped almost every pass in the gauntlet I saw him run (I don't know if they do it more than once). He's an interesting guy and I'd like to get him but if he's out #1 pick I want him after a trade down. I don't think he's going in the top 22.

WR is truly deep this year. Shipley's and Benn's times could drop them a little and also Demaryius Thomas will fall because of his broken foot. Thomas was projected 1st rounder prior to his injury. Carlton Mitchell, Taylor Price and later, Antonio Brown, Marcus Easley all appear to have talent.

I'd hold off on the cherring for him.. HIs shuttle time was not so hot.. Pat Kirwin just said it was 4.5 or close to it.. Looks like he might have str8 ahead speed but thats it..

Also mentioned earlier this week, he has issues with the press coverage..

Why not? Deion Branch and Mark Duper were both 5'9, they seemed to be pretty effective.

Duper was 30 years ago, Branch wasn't a #1 WR. I like Tate and I'd like to get him but he's not some super special stud and his size does hurt him.

this is the way i see it tate need's moss and welker, to open up he's game. and benn, can help open up moss game. and be the #1 WR when moss. is gone in a year or two.

Moss just turned 33, he still has a few more good years left in him (either in New England, or elsewhere)

All sorts of win here. I wanted Tate should he slip to the second round. Looks like that isn't happening now. I wouldn't mind looking at an O-Lineman or a DE in the first round myself. This is a very deep draft and we should address the trenches first.

Uh . . . Branch was the Pats #1 when they won the Superbowl and his 10 catches were not too bad in that game.

Still, I just don't see them drafting him at 22. I wouldn't be upset with that, but I just don't see it happening. Somehow that guy with questionable hands caught 90+ balls this year and is is very, very good once he gets the ball in his hands.

Haha he fell down while trying to make a cut and he couldn't track the ball at all. Then he quit before doing any of the agility drills. Other guys projected the same gave it their all.

Branch was the Patriots' #1 but wasn't a true #1 WR. I like Tate and have suggested we take him for several months; but he is what he is and his size is a "sizeable" negative in being a #1 pick.

You mean the same Arrelious Benn that had a whopping 7 TD's in his entire NCAA career??

I want nothing to do with WR's that cant even score against NCAA defenses. I think Tate has the smallest bust factor of any WR in this draft. ( huge production in pro style offense, great return skills, 4.36 forty & a great YAC guy, sign me up please )

Golden Tate is a playmaker, with a high motor and character. Three things you cant teach. Personally Id consider him at 22 depending on who is left.

One of the announcers said that Tate reminded them of Hines Ward. That is high praise.

However the Tate that impressed me the most today was RB Tate of Auburn. He ran under 4.45 and looked good catching the ball.

I agree with the hines ward comparison but that's only on the character/physicality side, hes alot faster than hines and he goes up better than Ive ever seen hines.
