Exactly. The days of the NE Patriots supposedly being the top free agent destination where players will play for less are over. The whole "now nobody will want to come here" whining is complete B.S. Besides, the holes we need to fill should come from the draft and trades (Vince, AD and possibly Maroney and Watson)--not from free agents.
The point is that it never was (not that it is over) this discount stop that people keep pretending it was... Players did not flock here at discount price when we were winning, so I have no idea why people keep saying that it is over? It never existed.
As far as lockerroom chemistry, I don't think losing Vince will change much (unless the Pats aren't even negotiating in good faith, or they totally screw him by asking too much so that a trade never happens).The magic/chemistry from the SB+ years is gone. BB is rebuilding the D from farther down than most of us would want to admit. Time to turn the page.
I think chemistry is largely overplayed and considered backwards. Good lockerroom atmosphere comes from winning, not vice versa and there is no magic.
