I tell you what, I live in New Orleans, and none of them better tell me they are thinking of this game as just "another game". This game is their whole season, and the way I have seen their faithful taking this one, if they lose, psychiatrists will be swamped with business for months.

Friday, my fiancee' and I were shopping at one of the malls out here. The three cashiers has a Saints' shirts on, and one asks me if I am watching the game. I said yeh, but I'm a Pats fan, so I am pulling for them. If looks would have killed all three their employees had daggers going through me. It was like how dare you not pull for the Saints ????

At lunch today, I go to my bank, and all the employees there have Saints' shirts on. I know them all well, and I have been with them for years. Again, a lady asks me if I am watching the game. I say yeh, but laughingly I said, I am a Pats' fan, so I am pulling for them. The rest of the people just jokingly laugh and said "Boo, Go Saints", and which I chuckled too, nothing serious. Then, as I am walking out, this one women, about 60 or so, that I have had no problems with in the past, makes the statement: "Well, I hope Tom Brady gets his neck broke". I just looked at her, shook my head, and walked out since I was done. Even the rest of tellers in the bank just basically dropped their jaws in disbelief as to what she said and looked at her like she was nuts. maybe they know something I don't know????

So, if they come up with that line of crap, it is just "another game" to them, BS, this game is their whole season. I have seen it first hand, this town right now is revolving around this game. If the Pats beat them, there might have to be a massive suicide watches. I understand and appreciate their passion, but sheesh it is a game, and only a game people.

There was a time about 4 years ago when the Saints were all that city had. Their passion is impressive and I'd like to see more fans of that caliber. The story about the old lady is sickening, and I caught flak last year such as "I hope Brady can never walk again and has to breathe through a tube" here in Tennessee. It's amazing the level of hatred that jealousy brings about.

I think this is more flattering than annoying.

Just speaks volumes to how respected this franchise is.

I was going to post that same thing, we should be flattered by this reaction teams and fans have when they play the Pats. Plus I'm glad Saints fans are revved up and it'll all be good for NO itself.

Meanwhile we'll kick their ***** tonight

Oh, I know, down here, I hate to say it, but it seems like Saints football and LSU sports are the ONLY thing that matters out here. I admire their passion, and don't fault them for it, but maybe, just maybe, if they exerted half the energy into things that really MATTER out here, maybe Louisiana would not be dead last or close to it, in every important category (like education). Supporting and passionately following local sports teams is fine by me. I just think some times they go overboard out here. I think this lady, not realizing it, made herself look like a complete fool in front of about 10 oh her fellow employees in the bank. They turned their heads and looked at her like she was nuts. They all know me, and know I am not malicious in intent. I have been with that bank for 20 years now. It was just some good fun chat back and forth, and the rest of the folks in the bank knew that, and did not take it so personally. And, the thing is I was not even speaking to her. I thought about firing back with a response like "Well, if Brady got injured maybe your chances of winning would go up to about 40%, or something like that". But, I thought better of it, her own stupidity did more speaking than I could possibly have in that situation.

All very valid points. And it sounds to me like you handled that situation very well. Had you made any kinda of retort it would have made you look (at least to some extent) like the villain. Well played. The only way to deal with crazed fans is to outclass them.
