Real simple guys. Yes or No. Is Monday night's game a Super Bowl preview?

I hope so... at least for the AFC side of things.

Here's an interesting stat ( totally useless but Hey). Of the six times that the Patriots have made it to the Super Bowl, on 5 of those occasions they played the opposing team that they faced in the Super Bowl earlier that year. Granted two were in the pre-season but they still faced them.

year opponent when faced
1985 Chi week 2
1996 GB n/a
2001 StL week 10
2003 Car pre-season
2004 Phil pre-season
2007 NYG pre-season and week 17

We'll make it there. They won't.

How about MAYBE

I hope so it would make for a great game, that and the Vikings won't be in there. Though if the pats win the SB I would love to see it against the Vikings and favre

It certainly could be, but I voted no.

I think the Vikings match up well against the Saints, assuming Favre doesn't revert to form. Peterson matches up well with the Saints' 20th ranked run defense, which will set up the Vikings passing game. Minnesota has a stout run defense and Jared Allen can bring some pressure on Brees.

I wouldn't be surprised if NO wins and gets to the SB, and they are certainly a worthy team. But if I had to guess right now, I'd guess that Minnesota upsets NO in the NFCCG.

It's certainly more plausible than suggesting this time last year that Arizona would be the NFC representative in the Super Bowl (and would almost win it).

Its far too early to predict something like that. I voted no also for that reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the 3 bumbling NFC east contenders pulls it together and makes a tough run in January. I think Favre is gonna fade down the stretch, and I just don't trust that New Orleans D for the long haul. That and both the Vikes and Ain'ts are domers.

On the AFC side of things, Indy chokes, naturally. I think we nab the #2 seed and hopefully cincy or pitt comes our way because I honestly don't wanna play denver or sd. Hopefully pittsburgh or sd gets sent to indy because they never play well against them. I could see us making it to the big dance but we've got a lot of work to do to get there.

I think the Vikings would shred the Saints. Jared Allen would eat Brees alive and Favre is having his best season ever. If he plays at this level for the rest of the season and the Vikings stay relatively healthy I think they're scary

who is going to eliminate the Patriots so the Chargers can make it to the Super Bowl?

lol i agree if the playoff picture stays the way it is it would be the best thing that ever happen to the pats

they are the 4 seed and would host the 5 seed jags

steelers 6 seed would be at san diego 3 seed

pats beat the jags steelers beat san diego

then its pats at cincy steelers at colts

steelers beat the colts pats kill cincy

and the pats host the AFC champ game and they will not lose that at home

iTS FUNNY THAT ALL OF YOU GUYS ARE ROOTING FOR A VIKINGS TEAM THAT NEEDED A PRAYER FROM FARVE TO BEAT THE 49ERS, LOSS TO THE STEELERS AND SHOULDVE LOSS TO THE RAVENS IF BALTIMORE KICKER DIDNT MISS THE FG... THEY ARE ALSO PLAYING SORRY ***** TEAMS. BRETT FAVRE THROWS THE BALL UP IN THE AIR AND PRAYS FOR A MIRACLE EVERY TIME..AND YOU FORGET WE HAVE A PRO BOWL SAFETY WHO PLAYED FOR THE VIKINGS AND KNOWS THEIR TENDENCIES. WE WILL STOP ADRIAN PETERSON AND MAKE BRETT TRY TO BEAT US THROUGH THE AIR AND THAT WILL FALL RIGHT INTO OUR LAPS...PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO BUILD THE VIKINGS UP TO OUR LEVEL WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE THE SAME RECORD AS THE COWBOYS AND OTHER TEAMS WITH 3 OR 4 LOSSES....

Seriously lose the caps and talk rationally about the game and people will for the most part treat you with respect.

I refuse to read anything you post until you turn off the caps.

I think the Patriots have an easier path to the Super Bowl than the Saints do. The NFC is deeper, but I think Minnesota is the best team in the NFL right now and they're killing teams without one of their most valuable players right now.

That said, getting to the Super Bowl always involves some luck, so you just have to ask yourself who will get the benefit of that luck in the post-season.

My pre-season pick was San Diego vs. Green Bay. A wise man would change that pick, but I never claimed to be that, so I'll stick by my guns.

I voted no, but a maybe would have been my first choice.

I like the Bengals chances in the AFC

I would love to see the Saints get there too. Brees is a fine QB and the city of NO deserves a winner.

way too early to tell, so i said "no." check back towards the end of next month. if the Colts have then started winning games by putting opponents away and not escaping by the skin of their teeth, i'd have to put them there. otherwise, it's the Pats or the Colts. if Lord Favregaard's old body doesn't start to melt down in the next few weeks, I'd like his experience over Brees' when the chips are all on the table. also, i wouldn't count the Eagles or Boys out.

After 1998, Favre's playoff performances have been pretty uneven.

Brees certainly doesn't have the track record, but he hasn't been god-awful.
