Isn't there a rule that if you get signed off a teams practice squad, you have to be on the roster of your new team for the rest of the year?

As Spiral said, a min. of three weeks, which at rookie level means about $18,000 a week plus benefits.

Sure, it's great to keep good players on the practice squad.
But the Pats had a chance to call him up after Lewis was released, after Galloway was released, when Welker was injured, and when Edelman was injured.

Maybe he is Sean Morey - a practice squad favorite, preseason game hero who makes a good career. Maybe not. The Patriots clearly valued Edelman and Stanback more.

Good for him - a chance to make a little money and maybe stick around a while longer. If not, he may well be back next offseason. Sometimes they return.

No, only for 3 weeks (enough to earn you a credited season). Even if teams cut such a player before that 3 weeks is up, he still counts against their 53-man roster limit until those 3 weeks expire.

It sucks, but only for us as fans of Nunn (a major binkie of mine). He's now on an NFL roster, getting paid and adding to his highlight reel for a future contract (I hope, for his sake). Good luck to him.

Nnnnnooooooooooo!!!! I really liked him in pre-season. I really wanted him to stay and see what he could do. I just had a gut feeling about him. Oh well . . . not a huge deal I guess with Stanback filling in adequately.
