The WILDCAT gives me FITS. The Colt's sloppiness vs. a pass heavy/solid Texan offense says more about the COLTS as a unit than the PATS who had to guess against MIAMI's wildcat.


that damn wild cat is frustrating and you cannot use this as a sample. Miami's offense can do so much w/ the that formation and is unpredictable....

I still think the secondary has room to improve. They're still out of place on a few more snaps (though not as many as the beginning of the year, which shows me they're starting to get a grasp of the complexity of the defense) than I would like. However, I cannot deny that this is the most physical secondary we have had in some time. I said that after the Ravens game and I'm saying it again today. I watched the game with a few Dolphin fans yesterday (quite the pleasurable experience) and they couldn't believe how hard their receivers were getting hit.

Love McGowan and the physical presence that he and Meriweather bring to that secondary. In our system, he looks like the Ryan Clark to Meriweather's Troy Polamalu.

Nice comparison, though I think in the long run Patrick Chung may end up more like Polamalu. Chung has proven that he can hit like a ton of bricks and make the big play, and he is progressing quickly at this point. A year from now Meriweather, McGowan and Chung may be the best safety trio in the NFL.

I agree with you.... they are not perfect. They will continue to improve each game. All we can wish for is "STAYING HEALTY".

It's entirely possible. But, as of right now, BM is the ball-hawking safety that can cover a lot of ground and is still capable of the big hit while McGowan is the crusher that punishes that guy that catches the ball.

So far, McGowan is a lot less dirty than Clark is, though.

Those licks Chung laid down yesterday were impressive. This secondary, all the way through the depth chart (seemingly including Arrington) are vicious. But they also have a discipline about them you don't always get with these bruiser types.

I don't think Henne will forget Chung anytime soon.

Pats are 3 point dogs with a 50 point over under. Sagarin ratings have Pats 0.5 points better. Add the 3 point home field advantage... Sagarin and Vegas are the same

True enough. McGowan is a beast, and one of my favorite Pats players. I liked the pickup when it happened and never thought he was on the bubble, but I never expected anything like this out of thim. He's a difference maker.

If Chung continues to develop I could see us running a lot of 3-3-5 defense using 3 safeties with Meriweather-McGowan-Chung and 2 CBs. Thomas, Guyton and Mayo cover a lot of ground as LBs, and McGowan and Chung could function as both DBs and extra LBs. Meriweather could function as the ball hawk and nickel back. Lot of flexibility and options. Now, if we could just get some pressure up front ...

I think it is hilarious when people think they know what they are talking about. Our defense looks as good as I can remember. Just need to stop the run better, but Manning and the Colts passing attack are in for an awakening.

Only reason I ask because that is basically this is obviously the biggest strength of the Colts and I'd be surprised if this happened. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats win, I would be surprised if they can shut them down passing the ball, completely.

The points thing I don't think is convincing, but I agree, the Pats should MAKE them beat them on the ground. As I said in another post, I'd play dime against the Colts as a base defense.

By the way, I read somewhere the over/under is 52 for this game. That's a ton of points.

I only brought up points because you predicted they would put up 31.
