Marshawn Lynch, Ronnie Brown, Leon Washington, Joseph Addai, Maurice Jones Drew, Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton, Cedric Benson, Willie Parker, Ray Rice, LT,

That leaves The cleveland runningback, Darren Mcfadden, Buckhalter/Moreno and Larry Johnson worse then Maroney.

Based on my response in another thread, this leaves him at about 12 out of 16 based on the starting backs.

The run blocking has been terrible so far this season. In those clips he has huge wholes to run through for the most part. He is at his best when he gets in the open field. When he doesnt see an opening he does a turkey dance and doesnt have the will to break through tackles and force his way for yardage. He needs to have things all working for him for him to be successful. He's not one to take initiative on the field.

don't expect him to perform like that.

Highlights?? There are highlights of Vince Young out there.. means nothing.. Hell even Ryan Leaf has highlights..


The only highlight you should worry about is the one where he hesitated on a 1 yard run for a TD last week.. (the one i mentioned and a perfect example how he doesn't hit the hole)

Or the fact he has NEVER played a full season and got 1000 yards.. Or been a large part of a pass 1st offense..

My original point was a lot of Maroney's + Yardage comes when he is shotgun and the defense is playing the Run (they have more DB's than LB).. He benefits playing in their system.. If you took Jones Drew or D. Williams, their numbers would be thru the roof..

The rest of your post is just you trying to change your complaint since your earlier one is so clearly incorrect.

Please point to the regular season game in where he has missed an important block or has fumbled.

Again please keep in mind we're talking about regular season, e.g., games that actually count.

You'll probably say that he has too small a number of games to be fairly compared to Maroney in terms of fumbles, etc. which means we revert to my original argument that BJGE has not had a fair amount of time to showcase what kind of RB he really is.

I am not a Maroney basher, but I don't understand why you or anyone has to bash BJGE to prove Maroney is the better player.

It's not about bashing BJGE to prove Maroney is better. It's about our original opinion on BJGE (that he's a JAG). Yes, his sample size is small. But the guy had every opportunity to prove himself in 2008 against the worst defense in the NFL (Denver) and failed to even impress in that game. Thus far this year, he's been okay, but has hardly been the guy that many people called on before the beginning of the season to take snaps away from Maroney.

My opinion is the same as yours.. Comparing the two is a joke.. Someone posted a stat showing Maroney was better than AP because he has more positve plays..

That stat was posted purely to counter the argument that Maroney has a lot of negative plays. It wasn't posted to prove that he's better than AP, because he's not.

Whats funny is a couple of people have posted on this thread and other threads that other RB's would have great stats on this team while Maroney doesn't, but that just isn't the case. BB clearly decided in 04 to go to the RB by committe approach and hasn't looked back.

No RB is going to have the season the LM detractors want. Not on this team, at this time.

It doesnt matter what we think, it only matters what BB thinks, and he thinks hes a good back. The way this team is currently structured hes more than adequate, we dont need or want a Barry Sanders on this team.
Im not going to say hes a great back but he does a lot of things well and if the O-line does their job he does his.

No one stat tells the whole story. That doesn't mean you throw the stat out which it appears you want to do.

It doesn't say that he's better. It says that he has a better "batting average". It's generally a good idea to know what a stat means before you claim that it's invalid
