make it quick since I am sure others will post.

Whilhite made his return...he was wearing red and no number so it took me a while to figure out who it was. I broke out the phone to see if there was a live update and found out we traded for Burgess. So I am sitting in my seat and heard that news it jacked me up like it was gameday.

Reiss said Wheatly wasn't there but I think the goldenboy screwed up as I am pretty sure he was there.

Merriweather is flat out nasty....I keep saying and he keeps proving me right...he is undoubtedly our best DB. He had a pic and two other plays which were completed but I doubt they would have been had it been full contact.

Nunn had a nice grab while he was getting hit.

Slater seems to always be one of the first or second players down field.

in one on ones the DBs seemed to be getting burnt with Welker making a nice one vs Butler and Lewis making a nice one too but I can't recall who was in coverage.

The rush actually seemed pretty good today as there were a few plays that would likely have been sacks.

I was watching the Oline do some footwork drills for a while and it is fun to watch big men move their feet so quick.

Sat in light RTE 1 traffic which I haven't done since the old stadium as we get to use the access road being Foxboro residents. yeah I know I am spoiled it was like 5-10 minutes and I was complaining.:D

Speaking of Oline, did you get a chance to see how SeaBass was doing?

other than the dancing I alluded to I didn't really analyze the line too much tonight and I will admit that while I find it fun to watch the trenches I am not the best to speak as to how his technique is developing. But I have tried to follow him a bit in some other practices I have been too.

He has impressed me as you can see him playing both RT and LT. I have seen him make some pretty nice blocks and one in particular stood out to me as he mauled Tully and then when the play ended a coach took him aside and completely broke him down for poor technique. From my eye I would say he is easily the first tackle off the bench but I would expect Light and Kaczur to be the starters.

With him and Hochstein you have two players that between them can play every position on the line great to have on gameday and they might be better than some starters on many teams.

I'll add in my own:

-Also sat in a bunch of Rt. 1 traffic. Staties didn't do a 3 lane/1 lane cone-off so it took a while getting out.

-Ernie Adams took a walk with Jon Bengston (field superintendent) checking out the field. Also talked with Belichick, and later with O'Connell after a drill.

-Kraft and Reese were on hand. As were some CFL scouts again.

-Pats, according to PA guy Rooke, worked in some 11v11s preparing for the Eagles' defense.

-In both 11v11 sessions, the guys on the sidelines (including coaches) started to creep onto the field, prompting Belichick to yell at them: "Fellas: Get off the field. Get off the field!"

-Practice was more of a preseason-type practice, with a lot of opponent prep-type work. This was especially evident on the two minute drill, with Belichick trying to get all facets of the team running smoothly for the first preseason game.

-Officials were on hand again, with one even calling a false start penalty during a 11v11. They came in handy to call a timeout to ice Gostkowski on one of the two minute drills. It was practice time for them as well, as they worked the 2-minute drill as if it were a real situation.

-Wilhite, as reported, was back in a red, no-contact jersey.

-Brady was upset after his interception and spent some time discussing it with Welker, his intended receiver.

-Walter continued continued to get a lot of looks. O'Connell has been the odd man out, but not necessarily in a bad way.

-O'Brien continued to use his walkie-talkie to communicate with Brady/Walter. Oddly enough, scouting consultant Larry Cook was also toting a walkie on the field.

-Terrence Nunn continues to impress with his sure-handedness.

-Edelman had a pair of impressive kickoff returns.

-Greg Lewis returned punts.

Pats1 did you see wheatly? cause I thought I did.

Pats1,

Skalavino is reporting Edelman was returning Punts on the Scout team, did he KR & PR or just do one or the other?

Who is Nunn getting his receptions against? (I know he had one over Bodden in practice, and he held on despite playing roflcopter, but I'm trying to get a feel for who he's beating.)

That is a good question and I would say he has made some good catches vs both the more talented DBs and some of the youngins. there isn't much in the socondary that wouldn't be considered good.

It's getting the look of an impressive secondary, but Wheatley and Wilhite still have a ways to go, as does Richardson and Love...not to mention Chung is still learning the ropes and McGowan too. I'm pleasantly surprised by Nunn to date (based strictly on other's reported impressions/observations) I just don't have a clear feel for degree of difficulty. We know young Edelman has been mixed in with the ones in certain sets, I just don't recall reading that for Nunn. :(

He was both KR and PR. Caught punts this time, too. :)
