New 2009 NFL Mock Draft Game Discussion Thread

Sir Gomezcat- you made my selection easier as I was debating the merits of Urbik vs. Levitre for this pick. I was leaning toward Levitre just because I think that he might have more upside, but Urbik is such a mauler... He also has a great name for an interior linemen (not that such things should matter). So far it is all offense, all weekend long for Jets. You would think that Ryan will wish for more D picks, but if you look at their talent right now I think that they nee some players to keep the D off the field (and in terms of value, that is where the value has been whenever they've picked).
I was also debating on Hamlin vs Chip Vaughn w/ my earlier selection for the Niner's. This was also made easier by the selection of Vaughn before me. I personally think that Hamlin has been overlooked somewhat by this board. The kid can play. I was actually looking for the safety the Niners didn't take to slip to the Jets but obviously that didn't happen.

I spent a long time looking at both of them and found them pretty hard to split. I agree re Urbik's mauling side which was why I picked him over Levitre. I don't think there's much between them. Trevor Canfield and Antoine Caldwell were also considerations.

You'd think that later rounds would go faster than earlier ones.

Yeah I certainly hope so I'm going to put together a schedule for the 4th round and let me know what you think.

Hello GM's I would like for you to look at the following schedule and let me know what you think. We need to speed up the process so we can get in as many rounds as we can within the next few days. If you are online at the time well its ok to wait and make your picks but if not I'm asking you to put together a list so you can PM your selections to Bakes781,Gomezcat or CanadianPat'sFan during the daytime and me in the evenings. Those that are interested in continuing this draft let me know and thanks. I believe that the PM process speeds things up but thats my thoughts let me know yours.

I really think we should just keep our heads down and try to finish this as far as we can before the real draft. I am having a blast but do agree we have done much better this time without voting hardly at all. I think that we have done a good job at keeping it moving but everyone must be checking two or three times per day as we speed up sometimes then slow down at others. All in all we are doing good just keep PM the next guy when you make you pick. This is the fun part of the draft from the 4th on as it is not as easy to pick the guy you want.

I'm happy for you guys to continue but I think I would have to drop out if it is going to get faster. I don't think I can be around for enough of the time to make things move quickly and I don't want to hold it up for everyone else.

I would be happy to discuss what I think the Rams and the Bills need if that helps.

Hopefully we can stay on schedule then.

I think we are doing fine and would not want to lose gomezcat

Ok guys you can stop it now. I was ecstatic after pick 77 and I had 6 guys left on my board for my pick at 85. Then Green #78, Luigs, Iglesias, Baker and now Freeman wow I thought I was in good shape 5 picks ago. Now I looking at my last name on my board at #85 and if Seneschal2 takes my last guy I am going to break by draft board in two:enranged::enranged::bricks::bricks:

I better do some more research to expand my draft board or I might get fired

I like going further in the draft we can keep going and going as far as I am concerned. With that said I do not know how much things can be sped up. I check fairly often but still the draft found me at the movies when it was my turn. For me it takes a little work to come up with my later rounds picks because I do not know these players as well as the earley rounds.

You guys are doing a great job running this draft. It has been a lot of fun even with only one pick so far.

Well, I just picked a QB -- is your board intact?

Schedule looks good I am always on or close to being on so you will get workman like production from me...drunk or not.

No when I looked and saw QB I was relieved to say the least and clemons was my last name so I did not have to hold the draft up to make another pick . I think the Fans of Phily my not like that for two reasons, they will be calling for McNabb's head week three and the now would have two Chris Clemonse's just to confuse the heck out of everyone

I'm all for keeping the draft moving quickly, but one hour time limits may be a bit much for some folks in my opinion. I think the bigger issue of assigning times is that we start moving along, get well ahead of the schedule, and then somebody doesn't make a pick for nearly a full day because they had it in their mind they weren't up for another 16 hours.

Just my opinion, but ditch the timetable, and place a reasonable time limit (three hours, perhaps?) from the last pick. Obviously we don't want to see picks take that long very often, but that lets people carry on the rest of their life (e.g., work) without having to stay here 24/7. Have everyone commit to checking in a bare minimum of three times (morning, afternoon, evening) per day, and get in the habit of PM'ing one of the designated members with their top three choices when they know they may not be online when they're on the clock.

That's just my opinion, but I'm more than willing to listen to any other suggestions. I would really like to see if we can finish all seven rounds, but we do not to speed it up to at least a round per day to make that happen.

Well looks like from the majority we will keep the schedule as is and I agree with checking on this morning, afternoon, evening. So the new schedule is out we will stay with the same schedule we have started this draft with.

I'm in for a speedy 7, as long as we leave enough time to focus on the draft forum, as I believe they'll be lots to discuss.

I'll defer to the majority ...... though we currently have one of those situations unfolding right now that I was referring to: a team has been on the clock for 2 1/2 hours, yet doesn't have to make a selection until tomorrow night. Hopefully he (and everyone else) will buy in to the 'check in every morning, 'noon and night' philosophy.

I like the schedule as is... I think we are moving along nicely. So long as everyone checks in a few times a day and monitors where they are... we should be good.

I was thinking about this last night. I will be around but not as often as people might like. I'm starting my new job next Monday, so will need to do some prep- buying new clothes, haircut etc etc.

I'll do some work on my picks, PM you guys and then leave you to vote if it all moves very quickly. I had been in the habit of staying up till 1am (8pm Eastern), but I'm going to have to sort my body clock out this week to make it more reasonable.

I have some thoughts on what the Rams need- er, everything apart from a starting QB, DE/DT and RB!

The Bills- where do we start?

Gomezcat I will take your two teams over as I still have the same old stinky job Congratz on the new job though but I will take over your teams if you are going to be getting busy. You are still encouraged to jump on this discussion an make fun of my picks
