Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

Now, there is no way that we get Peppers.

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

was bout to post this too. nice speed.

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

So many reports of Tank and his "special" role last year... is September the month we finally get to see it first hand ?

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

I'm glad their giving Tank another chance.

For people worried about salary cap, it doesn't apply to the Pats. They are planning for an uncapped year in 2010 and their franchise is the most dominant in terms of revenue throughout sports. Money will not be an issue for the Pats in an uncapped world. This will only affect small market teams.

Glad to see Tank coming back. I really think he could help in a S/LB hybrid role, and it's unfortunate we didn't get to see that last season.

Cowboys, Giants, Redskins & Yankees are right there too.

Scouting Report - Tank Williams

Assets: Hard-hitting safety who can be a force against the run. Has sideline-to-sideline range and plays the run with a mean streak. Chiseled athlete with excellent track-and-field speed. Blows people up and intimidates receivers.

Flaws: Comes and goes in coverage. A long strider who takes a step or two to get into high gear. Will go for the big crunch and miss some tackles.

Career potential: Solid starter.

At only 28 the defense gets even younger and faster. This guy was a starter before his knee problems. So there's a lot of potential here. I think or rather hope he takes over sanders' spot.

WILLIAMS the SS we needed
VENTRONE competing for a spot as a special teams specialist
BRITT competing for a backup OT spot
JOHNSON our annual OL retiree, competing for an OG/C backup spot

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Al Johnson like a big free agent signee a couple of years ago who then blew out a knee or something?

I'm not sure about Tank Williams helping, but I like Ventrone coming back. Was I seeing things, or did he look pretty good at receiver last preseason?

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

I'll go out on a limb. Ventrone will not have 5 catches this year. If he makes the team at all, it will be as a special teams specialist.

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

Its all good. Just waiting on the pass rush.

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

I'm very excited about Williams. I mean, his name alone is so awesome. We have a guy named "Tank" on our team. As long as his on-field play is more like a military tank than a fish tank...

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

I like the signing of Johnson and the resigning of Tank and Wright.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things is not quite the same:singing:

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

Johnson seems to add nice depth to the Oline...which is always good.

Brit and Ventrone were tendered so we expected that. Wright we knew about.

But the exciting one is Tank...we all were excited for him to be on our team last year and were disapointed he got hurt. Hopefully it works out this time becuase likely there is no Rodney so we need him more...at least we need him more until the draft.

Re: Pats Announce Some More Signings...

I was very surprised by Ventrone last year. I had previously felt he was a JAG, but that kid really hit a new level on ST in 2008. Excellent signing - - especially in view of the Izzo departure.
