Since this is the doldrums with the Pats not in the SB runing, it's time to speculate on who will NOT be in training camp the 1st week at the end of July '09.

Brady - Curran has him on deathwatch, will he be in camp?
Cassel - Curran et. al. have him possibly on the roster as Brady is an invalid
Evans - Do we keep this FA as a blocker and Buffalo game receiver?
Jordan - FA decision, experience and cap cost vs Boston Legal @ RB
Gaffney - Will The Hut, a FA, be back as our #3 WR?
Bruschi - Word up is he is recovered w/o surgery and wants to finish in '09
Harrison - A FA, can he and will he return?
Woods - Will the young French FA get a tender that keeps him?
Colvin - Another aging FA LB, will vet minimum bring him back?
Izzo - No list would be complete without this perennial question

My guess is that Brady will be there starting out as a summer PUP with Mick #2 geting lots of reps

Colvin's gone. Fun to have him back, but I can't see him here in '09 (and if he is, that spells trouble).

Also put Izzo. Time for some more young blood on the LB roster. Nothing personal: it's just business.

I'll be there

colvin played well while here...i woudlnt be dissapointed to have him back, show a thing or two to the young OLB

I am with you on that. Only problem is he would obviously be behind Vrabel and Thomas but also potentially behind Crabel and I am not sure he is looking to be a back up neverind the 4th or 5th option. But I would love to have him for depth.

I guess another problem is he doesn't play much on STs.

u see, thats why vrabel gets moved inside, and starts w/ mayo

while we have thomas, colvin, woods, and crable on the outside

That is interesting thought. Though if he moves inside I want a stud OLB someone who can really get after the QB.

As it Stands right now though Vrabel is too good a pass rusher to move inside. I like the thought but not as it pertains to Colvin as he would still be on the bench.

I really think we are all set at ILB with Mayo, Guyton, and Bruschi plus both Vrabel and Thomas can play inside too. We could use an OLB but I am perfectly OK with Vrabel and Thomas. IMO secondary should be the biggest position to correct this offseason.

I think Harrison will retire. I could see Bruschi pulling a Seau and coming back later in the year.

I think Colvin and Cassel will both be gone, maybe Gaffney.

Uh, unlike Seau a FA, Bruschi is under contract to play and be paid by the Patriots. He says he wants to play in 2009. Under your scenario he'd be CUT with the cap hit and then re-signed.

You're right, brain fart on my part. Aren't the rules different should he retire though? Although that seems like a moot point since he's said he wants to play.

Harrison is aiming to play next year, too. Hopefully for us, even if he's training his successors.
