The last team to go 11-5 and miss the playoffs which was the Denver Broncos in 1986 but they went on to get to the Super Bowl the following season - Maybe the fact that 11-5 did not make it in the playoffs the year before will really get the team highly geared to show the league they are the best in their conference.

Always something to hope for....

(Just a side note to this that that 1987 Broncos team lost in the Super Bowl that year to the Redskins but lets just get there in 2009/2010 first and then worry later on,shall we? )

Another team to miss the playoffs with 11 wins, the 1967 Baltimore Colts went 11-1-2 (no overtime back then). The went 13-1 the following year and made it to the superbowl, only to lose to the Jets. They got back to the superbowl 2 years later and won against the Cowboys.
The two seasons, 67 and 68 drove the Colts to get back to the superbowl.....

yah i think that if we are going to take some positives about missing the playoffs, one is that we are going to be well rested going into next year. i also liked that we played better as the season rolled along. we only played one really bad game over the latter half of the season (steelers).

The '85 donkeys missed the POs with an 11-5 record because there were only 5 PO teams per conference: the 3 division winners & only 2 wild cards, one of whom were the Berry da Bears Pats. No 11-5 team has missed the POs since the 6th team was added for the 1990 POs...until the 2008 Pats. Un-effin-believable.

BTW, I would love to have a DVD called 3 Games to (near) Glory: road PO victories against our enemies - the Jest, Faiders and a historic Orange Bowl conquest of the defending AFC champ Doofins.
