* One word: wind. The forecast was for temps in the 40s and winds steady 20-30 mph. What we got was much different. It was bitterly cold with wind gusts exceeding 50 mph. There were times that the wind would literally knock you off balance during the game if you stood up. A small portion of the Bills' field house roof was ripped off by wind; tree branches down, etc. EVERYTHING in this game was about who had the wind at their back and how it would affect passing/kicking. I'm sure this was pretty evident on television.

* Our seats were parallel to the north goal line, 24 rows up from the field. We had a perfect close-up view of Ghost's extra-point kick after the game's only touchdown. The kick went really high and seem to hang in the air forever before it came straight down barely clearing the crossbar. It was the freakiest thing I've ever seen, apart from the wind knocking the goal post crooked causing them to stop the game so it could be straightened out before Ghost's one missed field goal attempt. It was kind of funny, Bills defensive players were clowning around motioning to the grounds crewmen to tilt it more in the other direction.

* Bills radio was speculating after the game that BB told the defense to start a fight at the end of the first half so the Bills would get distracted and let the clock run out before they could kick a game-tying field goal. Amazingly, the Bills couldn't get their field goal unit on the field with 17 seconds left. Then, AFTER time ran out, all the Pats immediately ran into the tunnel and into the locker room while Jauron and a bunch of Bills players crowded around the refs and argued that the clock should've been stopped. Bills fans booed like crazy, and the jumbotron kept showing the Pats "molesting" Bills players which killed time after the last play. Jauron was crazy to waste several minutes like that arguing for a flag that wasn't thrown when the half was over and he should've had his players in the locker room making adjustments.

* Cassel's pooch punt was a stroke of genius. It was wild how the wind made the ball roll all the way down to the 2-yard line.

* The pass to Welker AGAINST the wind leading to the touchdown also was very clutch. That play drove the Bills fans around us nuts -- "How could they not cover that guy?!"

* The Bills played hard. They called some bonehead plays, though. I remember them throwing an incomplete pass against the wind on fourth and 1 or 2 at a critical point late in the game that reminded me of the disastrous call against the Jest with the game on the line a couple weeks prior.

* LOTS of Pats fans at the game; made a lot of noise in the end zones when Kelly Washington would come over to pump them up before kickoffs just like in Gillette. Of course, Bills fans also booed when he did that; it was pretty funny.

* Gotta give Bills fans a lot of credit for being pretty good-natured folks who love their team. Got some of the usual "Pats suck!" and "Cheaters!" needling, but nothing really nasty.

* Sorry to say that the Bills cheerleaders looked pretty amateurish in their routines. Maybe it was the wind.

* After the game, you could hear lots of Pats fans yelling the "J-E-T-S" chant. Too bad the Green Beans didn't come through for us. I really wanted to buy some AFC East Division Champs gear this year, which would've been quite an accomplishment.

* I can't believe the season is suddenly over. Still trying to get my head around being 11-5 with no playoff game to look forward to. I hope that next season, we come back with a vengeance. Sorry also to ponder that a few players like Cassel and Junior Seau have probably played their last in a Pats uniform. But, looking forward to having Adalius, Brady, Tank Williams, Wheatley, Maroney, etc., back and healthy again. Next season can't come soon enough!

Granted, I had to watch the game on a crappy internet feed, but it didnt look nearly as windy as everyone kept saying. I can't imagine what that must be like in person. I do remember going to the old Foxboro stadium, and I think we played the Saints, and it was raining sideways. That kinda sucked. oh, and you're right about their cheerleaders. I thought ours were bad, but the jills are pretty bad.

Oh well, here's to next season :eat3:

I was watching the game on a 32' lcd/hd tv and it looked hardly windy at all!

Great post....an dit DID look very very windy...sort of xrazy when the goal posts can't stay up straight...really...That first Lindell attempt was so odd....THAT made me think...as did teh Moorman punt..Did the wind slow down a bit in the 4th?? Thatw as when Edwards was passing teh ball a lot against the wind and they sort of mentioned it...but I had to wonder if it had died down a notch...agree...happened way to quick...season over..

I experienced a hurricane once and this was a close second. Trust me, it made the passing/kicking game from south to north nearly impossible until midway through the fourth quarter. It knocked the north goal post off kilter to where they had to stop the game to fix it; the uprights at both ends were waving in and out the whole time. The big American flag they have flying over the south end of the stadium was totally wrapped around the pole. It was freaky.

It felt that way from looking at the game...so the winds did die down some..I thought they might have...just a bit to make passing a BIT more possible..That was what I thought...but what a weird odd game..I felt so so sad last night..season over..was not emotionally prepared for that..

It only died down for a few minutes then it picked up again. We actually had some sunshine for a few minutes in the 4th quarter.

I wrote a thread earlier about my experiences at the game, especially the fight at the end of the first half, how the Bills went into the locker room with only 7 minutes to go before halftime.

.... how the Bills went into the locker room with only 7 minutes to go before halftime.

Maybe they were actually enjoying the weather.....seemed kinda balmy for Buffalo in December.

You're kidding right?

We were freezing out there.

It was 10 degrees wind chill.

yeah...there was no ice or snow, etc. and cause it was 62 degrees in NY yesterday.

Interesting post,TS,thanks...

I wouldn't count Junior out. Clearly, he's immortal.

Thanks for the report Tune, and many thanks to the hardy Pats fans that showed up for the game!

Tune was pretty much dead on. I was about 8 row in back of him (same sections). Good possibility we high fived or fist-pounded as we pretty much got all the pats fans around us at one time or another.

It was incredible weather wise and the EP kick was other-worldly. I actually thought it was traveling backwards at one point. Fans were REALLY mellow. It's been getting better an better at that stadium over the years but I got less crap then ever yesterday and I was fully decked out in my WW blues. ALL of it I did get was good-natured. There were TONS of Pats fans on hand.

Here's a few shots I got from the game.

Rosie.... Warming up.

The one and only Wes Welker

1st and Goal from the 2. who ya gonna call??????

Lamont Jordan strolls in to the end zone

Dejected Bills fans head for the exit........... once again :singing:

Vrab's keep everyone on task in order to close the deal.

Cassel, pooching a kick on 3rd down..... Brilliant.

The MASTER.................

About the mellow fans, the Bills fans were fighting with each other instead of Patriots' fans. They hate Jauron.

It was also more mellow because tailgating was t a minimum with the 60 mph winds. Not many drunks in the stadium.

hahahaha, true about the in-fighting. We had a dude a few seats up from that kept yelling "fire Jauron" the whole game. Most of the ire around us was other fans yelling up to him to "shut the eff up". It was comical. Like I said, all the jive I took, was all good-natured.

Where we parked, TGing was on par with other "winter" games I've been to there. The only difference was that is was subdued. I got the sense it was less the weather then the general melancholy of the fan base. Even the dumb chants of "Aye, aye, ayyyyaya, Aye.............. let's go Buffalo" all sounded hollow and without feeling. Much as I dislike them (which is NOT NEARLY on par with my distain for the JETS), I rather feel sorry for them.

Also, there were lots of Pats fans there too. There was one entire corner of our lot that was dominated by Pats fans.

I was actually surprised to see the stadium full in the 1st quarter, given the weather and the fact they were out of the playoffs.

It's stuff like that that finally disabused me of my prior notion 2008 that Jauron was a decent HC. Puting the ball in Loserman's hands against the Jets with the lead and 2 minutes to go, 22 seconds to go and not having the QB READY to either throw a quick pass into the EZ or just down the ball and try a FG (3 pts there woulda been huge) and worse yet pissing away halftime in a KNOWN futile attempt to get a penalty AFTER the half officially ended, really shows how not ready for prime time he is. Hopefully, he's the next HC of the NYJ.

Always love the post game live reviews, thanks.
That missed field goal by Buffalo had to be weirdest I've ever seen. At first I thought he shanked it, then it went across just like a boomerang. How did it look from your seats?
