This unit is also almost all set for another year, presuming that we re-sign Evans. Our needs are BPA, although we could use a TE, RT and a WR.

OFFENSE (25)
QB Brady, O'Connell, Gutierrez
RB Morris, Maroney, Faulk, Green-Ellis
FB Evans (fa)
WR Moss, Welker, Washington, Aiken, Ventrone, Slater
TE Watson, Thomas
OL Light, Mankins, Koppen, Neal, Levoir, Kaczur, Yates, Connolly, Ross

Why are you talking about next year already?

A healthy Brady and that's a frightening offense for all the 31 other teams.

Get a possible TE in the draft for some depth or FA - and a possible early round upgrade on the o-line.

Thanks for these threads, they're a nice respite from the Brady-infection worrying and other stuff right now.

I generally agree, but have a few areas of concern for the offense heading into next season.

I'd really want to re-sign Gaffney, Washington hasn't shown [or had the opportunity to show] us much yet at WR. I'd also want to draft or sign a WR to compete with Gaffney for the #3 spot and provide a different skill set, basically what we wanted Chad Jackson to do.

I'd also give Jordan the edge over Green-Ellis, as Jordan provides a running style different from anyone else on the roster.

I see the need for a long term investment at RG in the draft, and an upgrade over Kaczur at RT, and the general investment in a tackle via the draft. I find Yates & Connolly expendable, and I'd prefer to keep Hochstein around for his versatility.

Is he an RFA?? Just curious... Green-Ellis..Gutuerrez..LeVoir aren't the alsoFA of some kind?? Ross?? Not to be nit picky...Also, I would resign Hochstein..as he's a solid inside backup.

Not sure about LeVoir, but Green-Ellis and Gutierrez are ERFAs (Exclusive Rights FAs), b/c they have less than three full NFL seasons under their belts. That basically means as long as the Pats offer them at least the minimum for a player with that level of experience, their choices are sign or retire.

I agree with all your comments. I would be fine if we re-sign Gaffney and Jordan, and I so prefer Hochstein over Yates or Connolly. I only included signed players and ERFA's.

I do like Washington. If we re-sign Gaffney, I doubt that we'll see a WR draftee. Also, Levoir and Connolly could be future starters, or future backups. We shall see.

It is great to able to look at upgrades on the offense instead of filling holes.

I think, for the first time, almost all posters here would celebrate a first round or second round pick of an offensive lineman (RG or RT).

My dream draft is the first three rounds is RT, RG, TE and S. I like our starters and depth everywhere else.

Yup, I could see that, I think that'd be ideal. IMO, I can still see us drafting a WR though if we retrain Gaffney and Washington - again, basically to fill the role Chad Jackson was intended to, if we had to drop Ventrone to do it, I'd probably reluctantly do so.

I would bump up guard as a need, but overall pretty good unit assuming Brady comes back somewhere near his old self.

We should sign about 10 extra running backs as well. Just in case. OR load the P Squad with them.

QB- I think you are right on. Cassell gets offered too much money somewhere else. KOC becomes the #2, and Gutz - or a Vet FA is #3.

WR- I like Gaffney also, and with Washington, Ventrone and Slater. I don't think we need another rookie.

OL- If they can find a RT in the first 2 rounds? I think Kaczur would be a beast of a RG. Then fill in with the back-ups we have.

TE- I could see another TE early, but not in the 1st Rd. The guy I have my eye on is Bear Pascoe, Fresno St., probably a 3rd rounder.

I'm assuming we get a 3rd comp pick. Four of the top five picks I'm hoping for the first 3 rounds, RT - SS - ILB - TE.

Agreed and the switch can't happen soon enough. Most unreasonably picked on guy in the O-Line.

Since RG is widely accepted as the easiest OL position to play, I agree with moving Kaczur there and focus on drafting a RT.

My picks: RT, DT(surprise pick), S, TE.

I'm going out on a limb, but if there aren't any fitting prospects for DL in the second, we could spend a first on the position to spell Seymour, Wilfork and Warren. This would be much the same situation as Meriweather studying under Rodney... and now look at how much we need him.

Yeah, that offensive line is due for a major overhaul. If there's a guy available in the draft who can play LEFT tackle with the ability to handle the speed rushers who make Light's head spin...move Light to the right and let Bruce Armstrong Jr. (just a name I made up for the type of guy I'd want) handle the left. And on the second day... much more depth is needed on the offensive line. I can't think of ANY offensive picks that are not the line. QB, WR, RB and TE are all either good or excellent. However, offensive line depth is needed even if there are no injuries and you just want to get a good rotation.

I havent yet looked into who will be available in the draft, but the 09 FA list for 0-lineman is pretty good. They might find the solution there.

It is probably too early to say anything positive or negative about Levoir after just 2 games. I don't think he has allowed a sack so far ? He appears to be better than Kaczur and Brit.

I don't know who got the 'credit' but I know there was an offensive line screwup or two on his side of the line. Yates and him are not a good combination.

We absolutely cannot get let Gaffney go. He is stud. Underrated stud I say.

1st round TE for the win!! (God, I hope not). We will draft a TE though. BB will never get over his TE fetish. Frankly I was shocked that we didn't draft one this year considering we let Graham go.
