Moss "drop" - why no challenge?

I thought he had control with one hand and I too was surprised there was no challenge.

Look up 'facietious' in the dictionary tonight.

I know exactly what it means and that your post was being it.

Perhaps since you did not recognize when I did it in return, you might need the dictionary?

Can you send me one over the Internet?

PJ - Do you remember when it happened in the game?

I believe it was the second quarter on the drive that led to the Pats FG. Could be wrong, though.

Ok, you were right and I just watched it - For those that have a TiVo or whatever you can watch it at 7:20 Left in the Second Qtr.

After watching it it looks like Randy never had possession of the ball. There is a great camera angle on Randy just as they cut to commercial (Boston is playing as the background fade out music). He tried to bring it down with one hand and Jammer was there knocking it out.

Neither announcer said Bill should have reviewed the play - Madden says he did have the catch, but Jammer was there to knock it out, "Great Coverage".

Wow, I'm surprised this thread is still going.
I thought my theory had been debunked, but it's nice to see I'm not the only one with bad eyes.
I have dvr, and when I saw it last night, it looked at the very least - challenge worthy.
He took like 3 steps, and I did'nt see the ball moving around.
Could have made a big difference imo.
They never even went back to it after commercial as I recall.

The bizarre part of this to me is that they showed a few replay's and it looked like he might of had possession. But, as they cut to commercial with the music playing they have a perfect shot from the sideline right next to the play itself that shows he did not have it. Why would they not have showed that in the first place and have the guys comment on that?? Crazy. From that view you can tell why 1. Randy did not argue he had it and 2. why Bill chose not to challenge.

Anyway - CrazyDave, check out the replay going to commercial and let me know what you think.

I hate Boston.

This must be personal.

They don't suck that much do they?

You hate them?

I was yelling for the challenge flag on that play.

That could very easily have been ruled a catch and a fumble.

I will reference a play from the Patriots season last year......remember when Randall Gay stripped Kellen Winslow on a play very similar to this one in terms of lenght of time the receiver had the ball. Gay stripped the ball, recovered it, and took it to the house for the final score in the Pats victory over the Browns.

I saw what you did. Even Al Michaels and John Madden said the same thing.

It happened right in front of me and section F40.... and I thought it was a catch when it was live.

Thought they should had at least threw the red flag. The Pats had 3 Time outs and didn't have much to lose except momentum. I wasn't mad that Bill didn't when I watched Moss jog back to the sideline. If Moss was calling for the red flag, then I would had be more sure it was a catch. Nevertheless, hard to overrule the call on the field.

It's not personal (except my personal taste I guess). I just really hate their music. Boring garbage rock. And I like everything from Black Flag to Louis Armstrong to classical.

Thanks for doing some leg work for us ScottieC.

No problem, Va Pats. I like replays.

My obsession with this was based on, if Randy had the ball and he knew it AND he did not call for Bill to challenge then I am going to have a BIG problem with Moss. It's almost like giving up on a play, i.e. Raider Randy.

That being said, I could not wait to get home and make sure I saw what I thought I saw on Sunday Night. I feel better now.

Key in watching the play is to watch the replay as they go to commercial, any other view is not definitive.

I'm a BIG Moss fan and defender of his actions since he came to our team - But giving up on plays is horse crap and I would have lost some respect for him. Ya know??

I thought it was a catch and was waiting for a challenge.

I thought it merited a challenge, looked like control and two steps to me.

It looked to me that he took at least 3 steps after catching the ball.
I was drinking, but it looked like a catch and fumble to me.

I was thinking the same thing. Looked like he caught it, took a couple steps, then the Chargers defender force the fumble out of bounds.
