On one hand I think the team would like to get back on the field tomorrow to get this game further behind them.

On the other hand, there sure look to be some kinks to work out, and the extra week should help that. Not to mention an extra week with Cassel and the 1st team O in practice.

What do all y'all think?

I think all the Chicken Littles are going to make the next 2 weeks a living hell on this board.

We thought the Dolphins were coming at a good time, we were wrong.

Bye has been looking good the past few weeks, hopefully we escape this week with a win and try to put some magic together to squeak one out against the 49ers.

Has the bye ever lost a game?

I hope they just jump ship. I'm looking for some patsfans Darwinism.

Hahahaha. Yeah....death by stupidity.....always something good to see on a message board.....

That hope would be more comforting if Darwin had been right.

Come on, it's not that bad!

Personally I think this will be a good week off to re-group for the guys.

OK, then some message board intelligent design. Whatever floats your boat. I just want our board back.

On the bright side, if the server change crashes the board for, say, a week, this will be the perfect time for such a tragedy.

Yikes... start talking about the election and we're going to internet forum hell (or nothingness if you're that other guy)

Speaking of the bye...

Think we'll see any major roster moves? I'm wondering if Bru's gonna make it through the year.

I'm also wondering if Gutz gets re-cut for a vet QB to come play back-up. I'm NOT one of the chicken little's in favour of this, but I'm curious if Bill is p!ssed enough to do it. Chances are he can't stay mad at Matt very long before the D's performance takes over the whole of his seething cauldron of doom (mind).

Has Bill every forced a reactionary move?

maybe some Fall foliage might be soothing to the players...

Perfect record I believe.

Bye: Not starting Matt Cassel
Patriots: Starting Matt Cassel

The proof is in the pudding. Blow it up, tank it and hopefully try to recycle our glass Maroney bottle for a Daunte Culpepper this season.

This may be presumptuous, but it didn't appear that the coaching staff had a good game - from focusing the players, to opening the offensive play book, to prepping the defense - perhaps they were the ones with an off day. With two weeks to stew about the loss and also prepare for the next game, I'm confident the Pats will be 3-1.

Well, it would be the perfect time to bring back Seau.

There's an election? And how is this not internet forum hell? (Oops! I forgot, that desert troll could be allowed back - forget I asked!)

I haven't watched this game all the way through, but without specifically keying on Bruschi I've got to say he looked almost 2004-ish in the first two games. It would also be hard to critique him apart from the rest of the front seven the way they were playing together (or not) yesterday.

Major roster moves? Define "major." I don't anticipate any trades, it's not unreasonable to think there might be a Free Agent signing and a demotion. I could see bringing C.J. Jones back to see if his speed might help loosen things up for deeper routes - Moss is being smothered, but then there was no one else to run deep routes last season either (Stallworth ran short routes and used his RAC skills to make big plays).

Has Bill every forced a reactionary move?
Forced? Not so much, he's rather deliberate about being reactionary.

haha

Maybe I shouldn't pick on Bru. He seemed lackluster today, but then so did the whole D.

Major moves... Vet QB, Deep route WR, etc...

I wonder if they might offer open competition for the QB spot if this goes badly very long.

Ah, I gotta get out of this forum for the night. Too depressing. My brain's all numb.

Put me in the camp that is glad the bye is coming now.

I think it's an understatement to say that there are some kinks that need to be worked out. I don't believe the defense is anywhere near as bad as they showed today (I'm also not sure they're as good as they were the first two weeks, I'd say they're somewhere in between).

Additionally, I think this team needs to decide whether Cassel is the answer as quickly as possible. Although this loss wasn't his fault really, it seems clear to me that he's not going to win them any games. He may not lose them many either, but we need to decide whether the type of production he's providing is good enough to be competitive considering the rest of the roster. I'd tend to think yes, but I'm starting to lean the other way a bit.

As for the chicken littles, let them run, maybe it will free up some bandwidth next gameday so I can actually get on the site.
