Any word on Woods?

Has he been tendered or re-signed to a new deal?

Re: Any word on Woods?

Haven't heard anything yet. Or with Ventrone (ERFA) or Britt (RFA).

Re: Any word on Woods?

Everytime I see or hear his name I still think of him falling on that fumble in the game I cannot mention.

Just...can't...let...it...go

jesus, it was one play of two dozen that weren't made by the pats, the whole team and coaching staff. the team that won was the team that deserved to win because they executed better, not because of one odd bounce of an oblate spheroid

now ben dreith, now that's a reason for not letting go, because in that game the team that executed better did not win.

doesn't escape the fact that woods is a lousy OLB

Re: Any word on Woods?

And you ol' buddy, are a lousy evaluator of OLBs. :D

No kidding. I don't know why you think that. Value vs. cost, he's good stuff.

Can we upgrade? Absolutely.

your evaluations fit your screen name to a T :D

blah blah blah............and yet we find this wonderful OLB likely walking the street in the morning.........but we do have an hour and a half left and it is quite possible that the pats front office is just playing games with the rest of the NFL by pulling him from the market at 11:59 ... because he's worth it

P'haps, but my guess is his new contract needs the Cassel trade to clear cap space before it's announced.

Re: Any word on Woods?

Why? Do you have a new cap number? Surely, any new contract or tender for Woods would easily fit under the cap. Most here ahve been speculating a tender of $1.5M. I guess I'm one of the only ones expecting a either a $2.2M tender or a new deal.

Re: Any word on Woods?

whats the value?

If nothing else he is the BEST ST player on the Patriots. A team that includes Larry Okie and Akins, former ST probowlers...

He is also a young developing OLB who does a fine job setting the edge.:D:cool:

Yes, I know you have been using the RFA tender for your valuation, but you may recall I'm expecting him to be signed to a contract extension to lock him up for more than a year. Billy Yates (3 years), Jarvis Green (5 years), both were reserves the Pats liked who received multi-year contracts rather than RFA tenders. I really hope Woods joins them.

Re: Any word on Woods?

2nd round tender. Why didn't you stop them, Tanked? :p

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2009/02/woods_2nd_round.html

The Patriots tendered restricted free agent OLB Pierre Woods at the second-round level today. The one-year tender for Woods is for $1.45 million.

This was the expected tender for Woods. Had the Patriots given Woods the low tender, they would have risked losing him without receiving compensation.

Now, if a team signs Woods to an offer sheet and the Patriots don't match, the Patriots would receive a second-round draft choice.

That gives us Vrabel, Thomas, Woods, and TBC as guys who have started games at OLB for us two of them can and have played inside for us too. Add in Bru, Mayo, and Guyton and we are seven deep no questions and still have Crable and some other guys.
