Ridley will be a free agent after the season, and I don't see the Patriots re-signing him after all of his fumble problems.

I would not be surprised to see him moved this week, but I doubt we would get much more than a late round pick (5th round at best).

Then again, we are thin at running back with Blount gone to Pittsburgh and Vereen still having wrist problems.

I expect the Patriots to draft a running back at some point this week, but I can't help but
wonder if Ridley will be with the Pats in 2014.

Kevin faulk had a fumbling problem his first few years, I bet one of the main things you remember about him these days is he never fumbled. none in his final 6 years here.

    Rethink your thread.

No, it makes no sense to. Why would they get rid of their only proven starting RB? And for a fifth? Why bother, wouldn't you rather have Ridley? Vereen is not an every down back. Bolden hasn't shown signs he's ready to grab the starting job and who knows what you get in a rookie. He's on the team in 2014.

Definitely on the team this year for 2014, whether or not Belichick will be interested in resigning him will likely be how he bounces back from his fumbling issues in the upcoming season.

I hope he is back, as when he holds on to the ball he is pretty darn good, i think. And he is still relatively young.

I thought there was a typo and that we were talking about 2015.

Obviously, we are are going to keep our only reliable running back for 2014. Vereen is still dealing with the effects of his wrist injury and is injury prone. Bolden is an OK #4 RB. Develin is our FB because we haven't been willing to pay for any better. We have no #3 RB. We have no camp competition or injury protection for camp.

We need more running backs, not fewer. I expect us to have TWO more running backs for Training Camp. My guess is two in the draft (as we did last time), but I would be fine with one draftee and one over-the-hill veteran. We've had a lot of those.

In any case, we would like to see RIdley be good enough to want to keep for 2015(ditto for Vereen). Bolden will be an RFA and may be worth a tender, or not. In any case, we have no RB's signed for 2015.

You realize Ridley is one season removed from a season where he rushed for 1,263 yards at 4.4ypc with 12 touchdowns right? @supafly and I are in agreement. He'll be a Patriots player in 2014. What happens beyond is anyone's guess.

You may be right, but I have learned that people on this board never want to give up on a player
    on the current roster.

I can still remember all the pro Maroney post right up to the day he was traded.
I also remember a ton of people questioning why Belichick traded for Blount last year.
People were saying that Blount was not needed because we had Bolden.

I believe that Ridley is talented, but I also know that when you get in Belichick's dog house
the Patsfans message board is not going to rescue you.

Why would the Patriots move him? He is cheap, he is talented, and as far as we know, there are no off field issues. There is an on-field issue (fumbles), but he can move the chains and has stayed relatively healthy for the past couple of years. He is worth more than a 5th round pick to the Patriots.

Now I agree with you, he is a coinflip to come back in 2015, but that is another decision tree entirely.

When BB gave up on Maroney the only 2 healthy RB's we had were BJGE and Woody. It would not surprise me in the slightest if they moved on Ridley if the right offer came. I don't see it happening but its not the long shot everyone here is suggesting.

There was a time last season where he was worth a 4th, there was a little discussion about that.

Anyway, the timing for a trade has passed, no chance to make this move right now.

Ridley will be on the roster in 2014 and be the lead ball carrier. He did not fumble or have any ball security issues over his final five games of 2013, many young backs have issues with fumbling early in their careers. You do not give up on a player who ran for nearly 1300 yards and 13 touchdowns in his first season as the primary ball carrier when that player is only 25 years old.

Wasn't there a thread on this that was made just before the changeover?

I wouldn't be that shocked if he wasn't. But, he should be on the roster next season. I doubt anyone offers enough that it would be worth dumping him. Plus our depth isn't very good. I will be shocked however if he is on the roster next season (2015). I think both parties will want something different.

If they trade Ridley i would accept nothing less than a mid 3rd rounder but i'd like higher.

Anything is possible and a trade could happen but i don't think a team values him enough to give us what we would want.
