Are there any news about this two young guys?

Are they injured? I read that Mayo was at the gold tournament, but Brandon?

Meriweather has a partially torn MCL and Mayo has bone spurs in his ankle. Next question.

I wasn't sure if he knew something or not but if he does, he's not going to give you his source - letekro, I would be curious, though, if this is something you know or if you were being sarcastic about the lack of information the Patriots give out.

If true, MCLs are a short term thing usually requiring no surgery. Brady tore his MCL in addition to the ACL and he had to wait about 6 weeks for the MCL to heal before having the ACL repaired. I don't know anything about bone spurs.

You just don't understand the meaning of sarcasm do you?

Do you know anything about this team and how they handle injuries? Nothing is obvious.

We do, but of course sarcasm isn't simply saying the opposite of what you mean. That isn't sarcasm.

Sarcasm means "tearing of flesh" and is an insult aimed at someone, not a commentary on a state of affairs. Sarcasm needs to have a victim of the ridicule or derision.

What you are thinking of is irony, which is using words to convey the exact opposite meaning of what you are actually saying.

But with irony, the key is the you HAVE TO CONVEY the meaning that is the opposite of the words you are using. If a person, certainly in more than one person, reads the statement and doesn't realize it was supposed to be irony then it wasn't. Same with sarcasm. The onus in on the speaker (poster) to convey the meaning, not on the reader.

Don't take my word for it, check a dictionary.

Mayo is refusing to report unless the Patriots promise not to franchise him in 2014.

Yeah, but letekro's initial comment was still sarcasm, even by the proper definition that you just gave...

Ok, I checked the dictionary and here's what is said:
Reference: sarcasm - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

    Now isn't that ironic?

If a person, certainly in more than one person, reads the statement and realizes it was supposed to be irony then it was. Same with sarcasm. The onus in on the reader to know the difference, not the speaker (poster).

    Disable Jersey

He might have gotten away with it if he'd added a picture of Darth Vader on a dolphin. ;)

    You forgot the link...

    http://www.natfootsarcnews.com

    That was sarcasm. Well done.

Mr. Urgent realized that to perform a satire on Belichicks reticence with injury information, he needed to refer to an example of, or a parody of, an injury report by Coach Bellichick.

The reader can therefore contrast this with an actual injury report and realize the humorous intent of the poster.

    Ha ha.
