And you eat 4 of that back next year in dead money. So in total, replacing those two guys with rookies, you wind up saving about 1 million total over the next two years, as you have to replace them on the 51 with two contracts that will be 500k+ for 2 years.
And the Pats need to be under the cap next Tuesday. Browner+Wilfork or Revis will get you there. June cuts to Amendola and Arrington won't.
One or both of those guys might well be June 1 cuts (teams only get up to 2), but they're not the answer right now if we're talking about keeping Revis or McCourty.
If.We cut Revis we are under the cap.
If, We extend Revis we are under the cap.
Right now we are under the cap. These figures are illusory!!!
They will cut Wilfork for 3 reasons IMO :
1) He is not worth 8m per year.
2) This draft is deep at DT and we have 8 or 9 picks ( 1 DT/2 OG / 3 WR/ 3 DT/4 RB/4 BPA/6 BPA/7 BPA/7 BPA)
3) Next year they will extend Hightower and Jones ( I hope at least) and they will nedd to be under the cap this year.
